Toyota interested in GM alliance
All this alliance news and positioning is like playing cards. Like a hand of Texas Holdem..... The two cards are dealt, now comes the flop. The turn and the river cards.....we're not there yet, place your bets.
Obviously there's some serious respect for what GM is or has if the Toyota juggernaut is 911'ing a plan of their own.

Re: Toyota interested in GM alliance
BusinessWeek quoted an unnamed Toyota executive who said, "Toyota has no interest in seeing an alliance like this [involving Renault, Nissan and GM] take place."
Their just trying to avoid the Nissan Alliance. Doesnt sound like their interest is genuine.

Re: Toyota interested in GM alliance
It said Toyota executives have "war gamed" possible scenarios by which it could help GM with its turnaround.
Am I the only one that thinks this is the funniest part of the article?

Meh, Toyota and GM have had a thing going for a while. the Rebadged Corolla as a Geo Prism/Chevy Nova, the Toyota Cavalier, the current Matrix/Vibe...
I still find the whole Toyota Cavalier thing amusing:

Like the article said, Toyota obviously does not want to see a GM-Nissan partnership. Its two of their biggest competitors, of course they don't want to see that. "War gamed" to help GM's turnaround? Yeah right....

Look where GM's strongest points are! They make great economical and powerful V8s and with the introduction of the 900s they make the best full sized trucks and SUVs on the market.
Toyota on the other hand doesn't make as good of a compact car or as impressive of 4-cylinders (IMO) and they already have great V8s. Their full size truck/SUV offerings are also, while not super strong, they're not weak either - especialy with the replacement for the land cruiser and the all new Tundra coming out and the vehicles that will be based on it.

I had a 1995 Cavalier that I absolutely loved. But I've never heard of one with a Toyota badge.
Was that for real?
