A bit OT, but i thought the guys here who never visit the lounge would like to see this as well.
Like the 100% of the American cars they review, they didn't let it go without tearing it apart. They tore apart the use of the live axle, and made the typical it's American, therefore it has a subpar interior and can't take simple corners type remark, but they liked it for what it was it seemed.

thanks for posting ... being in europe... you'd think I'd get to see that show here.
But to be honest... there probably 100% right. If you spent some time here in Germany you'd see that European cars a light years ahead when it comes to handling and interiors. Perhaps not so much on reliability. But in europe, many people are taxed higher because of the displacment of the engine. Not so much by the fuel mileage. Thus the reasoning behind so many european companies that strive for small displacement/high output engines. Insurance here goes strictly on the engine displacement, not the car, or it's resale value. Just displacement. As for the interior... the day we see an american car match a European car will be the best day in the American auto industry. It'll probably never happen. Even though I'd like it too.

When Ford and GM can match Volkswagen I think things will be going good. They aren't the best... but they are a good mark to shoot for. I personally like the touchy feely and layouts of the VW's, but thats me. But in general, any recent euro car will beat the snot out of any recent GM or Ford in terms of the inside of the car. GM may have a select few that have caught up... but it's not the whole line... and until it is... a few cars aren't going to make up for the perception of the rest of the cars/trucks.

BTW, what in the world is a boot? Is that the same thing as a trunk? I always thought a boot was something that you wore on your foot.

I'd have to agree here. There's not much left over in the performance dept when a $25K stang and a $30K GTO can pretty much whip everything this side of an M3. And the Vette and Z06 will wipe out the rest up to a Lambo or Ferrari F420? Is it F420 now?
All they got left is interiors.

Many people prefer pleasing and comfortable interiors to almost anything else about a car. Power is great for a while, but a majority of people don't give two craps about it after the initial shock of it. Its great to have on reserve for some, but many just like to be comfortable and pleased by their cars inside
Re: TopGear 2005 Mustang GT
Sure interior is important, to a point. Do you live in your car? Outside of some business people that are always moving, I would say no. I prefer a interior that is simple and not filled to the max with a whole bunch of switchs and buttons for the radio, Nav, heater/AC controls, etc. I prefer something that I can lean over to and know where it is and what I am doing without taking my eyes off the road. Some of those systems from Europe, e.i. BMW's I Drive, are just too complex.
What about handling? I think a big reason why some of those Euro cars handle so well is the over use of aluminum in suspension and frame. When the stuff weights so little, it isn't hard to make a sedan handle well, but why do I need my Jag XJS, E Class, or 5 series sedan handling like a Z06? Do you go SCCA racing with your sedan? I think some magazines put too much sinifigance on a car that has absolutly no body roll, and that if a sedan has some then it is a subperforming chassis.
So when you pay 60+k for your sedan, remember you are paying for a sedan that can go SCCA racing......USE IT.
