Thoughts on the '05 GTO......
Now that I've had a chance to see alot of real pictures of the new GTO and scope out the details over on Pontiac's website, a couple of things caught my eye: (I apologize if either of these were known ages ago, havent been as up to date on the site the past few months)
1. The hood scoops are an option-delete item. I didnt realize that GM would actually provide the oppurtunity to have a clean hood if you wanted one. Not too bad.
2. The sport appearance package is actually a production piece! I loved the looks of the sport appearance package and am happy to see it make production.
I loved the '04 GTO. Many didnt like it but I kinda liked its understated looks and clean design. Now the '05 IMO just looks awesome! Very mean and aggressive looking from the front and rear ends, esp. with the sport appearance package. Throw in LS2 power and this is a very worthy GTO IMO. If Pontiac dealers dont go on a gouge fest like they did with the '04, I think the '05's could move very fast.
Wonder what kind of lease offers theres gonna be on the '05 GTO

Re: Thoughts on the '05 GTO......
Saw the real one (or the one GM has with the 2005 upgrades) in person up at San Fran's show.
I think the rear is perfect, but I haven't warmed up to the hood scoops. I too am glad GM decided not to make them mandatory.
The "GTO" brakes are a nice touch, and the "buy-it-yourself/install-it-yourself" grill inserts are a nice touch.

Re: Thoughts on the '05 GTO......
Like I've said before, rather than fake hoodscoops....what the GTO really needed was 18" wheels.
Here's some GTO trivia for you all.
Does anyone know why the '04 GTO is sold with 17's vs the 18's which appeared on the concept? It's because Holden only went through the GM certification process on the 17's. The 18's and 19's on the Monaro were never put through this process .
When the GTO came here....GMNA said - no validation, no wheels.

I wonder if you can get the sport app front facia, side ground fx, recessed grille, but keep the back stock? That'd look great, the black between the tips looks excellent.
Re: Thoughts on the '05 GTO......
I think that money would have been better spent on fender flares then hood scoops or body kits. Fender flares would have added another few inches for more tire, not to mention add more of an agressive stance to it. Just look at the Coupe4.
Recessed grills should have been standard too. I dont care for the hood scoops. I wish they had put on a hood much like the 03/04 Cobra hoods with the rear facing scoops. I think that would have been pretty agressive looking.

In another thread, I remember you praising the 82 and 83 Z28 hoods...
