with a 400HP CTS V..is it going to set a new standard? I mean the thing was better in the corners than the M3 and the car has a 50HP advantage over alot of the other higher priced HP editions its aiming for ...so what ya think you think Caddy is setting the goal standard for the world..or making it the goal standard again..
A high HP V series..of cars..the XLR..and the V12 Escalade..
I thyink the image of the new Decade will once again be Caddy..

I can't think of anything that Cadillac has done wrong, or 'half-way' in a long time. (Well, "Copper Sunburst" (Sunset Orange Metallic) looks really out of place to me on a CTS, but that is really minor
)
Cadillac is on the move.
CTS, SRX, XLR, Escalade....V-Series... Cien!!!... Sixteen!!!
A great ad campaign!
From production cars to concept cars, Cadillac is HOT!
My wish list for Cadillac:
1) 2-door version of CTS. (And CTS-V) PLEASE!!!
2) Build Cien! Not that I would ever be able to afford it, but it is by far my favorite concept car in years ... if not of all time!
3) Sixteen, while stunning, and jaw-dropping, scares me a little bit with the styling. While retaining, the "Arts & Sciences" theme... it is not as 'edgy' as CTS, XLR, Cien, etc... Cadillac needs to keep the 'edgy' look, don't water it down!

The 16...well it could be built as as IN factory kinda limo..or something to that effect..I mean it could be marketed that way..and people would but it for personal chaufered transportation.
the Cien..
..that thing if Caddy builds it..THEY SHOULD..it would show the world that caddy is about performance..and with the 16..about style and grace..
I really think Caddy in the next 5 years by the end of the decade will again be the CADDILLLLAAAAC!!! the car to top all cars (normal priced luxury cars)..
and at half price of most.
the Cien..

I think that Caddy needs to prove themselves with the XLR before they can push something like the Cien. If the XLR does good, and real good, that could be the catalyst that the Cien needs to see at least very very small production numbers.
Well there is the (BMW) Mini, 3 series, M coupe, the upcoming 6 series. (mercedes) I dont know any of the names but there is he entry level small benz, clk, and that hege coupe..... Where is caddy?
I think the CTSv is an AWESOME ride. I give KUDOS to GM for letting the big dog out in clothes other than the Vette. Again, I get ever more awestruck at the appearance of such high HP cars these days... is there a ceiling to this HP madness?!?!
I think the CTSv will definitely put a hurt on the high end import market - given marginal price equality. I don't know what kind of volumes Caddy is predicting for the model, but the performance is definitely there - now let's verify a price tag too, and we'll be more able to judge the economic rivalry between domestic and import.
I am also interested to see how the CTSv plays against the Vette. Should the pricing be mid-40's for the Caddy, GM will then have two 400hp coupes priced equally, each with technologically advanced systems and platforms, each performing at high levels, and with serious refinements and interiors. Given that most NEW Vette buyers are somewhat older and wealthier, and that Caddy has traditionally attracted affluence and senior buyers too, I think it would boil down to the buyer's desire for a back seat and sporty appearance or not. My point is, the CTSv may put a little hurting on the Vette too while pounding on the imports. Picture yourself as an advanced middle-aged guy that's well-to-do and wants to suppress his mid-life crisis with a $50K purchase... which would you pick?
Just food for thought - deposit .02 at the door.

I can't see this one model cutting into Corvette sales. If someone wanted such a high performance coupe or sedan with more functionality, there have been options upto this point. The new CTS is an alternative to those options. Besides, we are talking about a very limited prodution model in the CTSv (a few thousand if I recall). Not to mention this car arrives late this year on the brink of the C6 unveiling. I wouldn't worry about new Vette sales.
If '04 sales lag it will be because it is the last year for the C5.While this is a fun car to talk about on this message board, it is still a $40-50k car that will be out of reach and out of mind for a lot of buyers. It's not like Cadillac won't be able to keep up with demand. Its biggest asset will be bringing more attention to the entire CTS line and Cadillacs in general.

Will the CTS V-series with a LS6 make short work of Infinity's M45, "self-proclaimed Muscle Car"
In a word, yes! Heck I can make quick work of a M45, they arn't that fast!
I think BMW is about to come out with a new M3 and M5 within the next year or so and I'm sure they will be looking at the new Caddy that Zigs!

jrp4uc, you're right on quite a few things. I'd never pay more than mid-$30Ks for a new car, so the chances of me getting an CTSv is pretty nil. Just the same, it's still great to see the "home team" take on all the other guys in such a forceful way.
Also, I think it's pretty dumb for anyone to be comparing CTSv to Corvette as far as market & sales. Sedan....2 seat sports car! Why not compare a Corvette to an Escalade while we're at it?
It's funny how people forget that the closest car to the Corvette was the same powertrain, similar design and stance, and sold-in-the-same-showroom Camaro Z28 & SS.

HP ceiling for production cars? "Somewhere south of 700HP", according to Lutz.
