Suburban

anyone know when Chevrolet is planing on doing and new body styling on the current 2009-2012 suburban? Looking to get another one, but don't want to buy one and then maybe next year there's a new styling change.

Re: Suburban

There's another thread about the full-size GM refresh on here. I think the trucks are supposed to get a makeover and new engine choices for the 2014 model year. The Avalanche will get the axe, and the Sub/Tahoe/Yukon triplets and cousins will get a refresh at the time or shortly thereafter?

After having a newer (2011?) 5.3 Yukon for a weekend and over 450 miles of mostly HIGHWAY driving, there's no way in hell I'd drive or buy one of those. They're damn nice rigs, but I couldn't do it with the pending instability of fuel prices.

No doubt they drink the gas, but looking at the stable in your sig, it doesn't seem you are likely doing much better (unless the Duc is your primary transportation).

What kind of mileage did you observed during your trip?

Our '11 GC does is a pretty heavy rig (a little over 5,000# as optioned I think), and with the Hemi, we observe:

-15-16.5mpg pure city driving
-21mpg cruising at 75mph on the highway
-24-25mpg at 65mph.

You observe that on the computer, or you calculate real numbers like that?

25 mpg would be damn impressive, though a GC probably has notably less frontal area than a Tahoe / Suburban. Still, I would expect a 5.3L / six speed combo to match or come close (or even beat) a Hemi in a highway cruise situation. A GC Hemi is only rated at 13 city / 20 highway.

For comparison, a 5.3L Tahoe is rated at 15 city / 21 highway (surprisingly the same for 2wd or 4wd, according to Chevy's website and fueleconomy.gov).

Re: Suburban

Unlike the Avalanche, the Suburban and Tahoe will be back.

Both get reskinned in 2013 (2014MY).

It's not out of the question that Suburban could end up with that new 4.5 diesel. Should know more by this summer.
