STSv the one to get 500hp, not CTSv (accurate speculation)
I went over the current Cadillac model portfolio last night, and I thought to myself about the next gen STS and the following V series the year after. We heard so called "inside" info claiming the next gen CTSv to get a 6.0L small block with 500+hp, I remain sceptical. I do know as fact though, that the Caddy V12 was indeed approved for production for future product. So my little accurate guess would be a 500hp V12 STSv, with a stretched Sigma to compete with the upcoming V10 500hp M5 and the like. This would make the STSv an upmarket model over the CTSv to capture those who find the CTS a little small for their taste and give Cadillac a true european blend in their portfolio.

THe July motortrend say that the only Caddy getting a V12 is the Escalade-v, 7.5L V12 won't fit in the next gen STS. hopfully they are wrong and the V12 fits the STS.
I bet the CTSv gets a bigger LS6 in the future, 6.0L or 6.4L (LS2 or LS7) probably
The ond rumors were that the STSv and XLRv would get 450HP+ Twin Turbo Northstar V8s

Something else has to get that V12. I could not see GM producing that engine for just one vehicle, on one specific model that will be very low production.......................so, something else has to get it. If not STS, then what..................XLR, new Deville? Do we know if that engine will fit in the XLR?

It seems to be illogical for them to continue to produce the LS1/LS6 engines for some cars while the LS2/LS7 will be used in others.
Much like how Camaro got the LS1 a year after it debuted in Corvette... I don't see why CTS-V could not get a version of the new LS7... and 500hp.
Cadillac is making incredible strides right now... I don't see them stopping any time soon...
Just my .02, though.

Cadillac even got great product placement in the movie "The Italian Job".
The bad guys in the movie have an STS and a CTS. Both very black, and very good looking.
For general info, it's a good movie (saw it last night). However, the final 1/5 of the movie becomes a very very effective advertizement for the Mini Cooper.
I even left the movie wanting one, till I came back down an hour later.
Since we're on a Cadillac thread, this is pretty good reading:

I don't see the STSv getting the V12, if for no other reason than CAFE issues. On the other hand, sticking it into the 'lade only requires them to bump the GVWR over 8600 lbs, just like they did with the H2.
When Car and Driver did the write-up on the Evoq back in '99 or so, the hot rumor then was a supercharged Northstar. I still see this as being the most-likely powertrain option for the STSv - I don't know if pushrods would cut it in the marketplace for this model (even though the GenIII doesn't need to make excuses for its valvetrain). A mere 7 PSI of boost would kick it over 450 HP and make it rather competitive. I can certainly see the CTSv eventually getting an LS7, but not with the same rating as the Vette (unless GM decides to upset the established HP Hierarchy).

The "Z06" car's engine, is supposedly labeled "LS7", 6.4 litres, and (up to) a possible 500hp.

I don't see the new V-12 in a STS-V, like Motor Trend stated its to big to fit. I believe if a car at Cadillac is goingt to get the V12 it would be a new Deville or a new RWD flagship large sedan. A new V12 Deville would compete nicely with the top of the line V-12 cars from Benz and BMW, and would send a signal out to the world, that Cadillac has a world class V12 luxury car that will probably be more powerful than the Benz or BMW.
As far as the XLR-V and the STS-V goes I believe that Cadillac will use a beefed up SuperCharged Northstar V8.
