Story from the 50's...

I keep remembering a bit from a Camaro book I read. Corporate people employed by chevy remember car designs dating back to the late 50's that were of the size and theme of the 67 Camaro. There were a series of designs. I saw a pic of a clay mockup from the early 60's that looks strikingly similar the the 1st gen. Just to think that these go back to before people even knew what a Mustang was is amazing. Parallel that to today and who knows what they may be working on that may have a Camaro name plate on it one day. My point being, no matter what depressing stuff you may hear or see coming from GM, in the end they may surprise you. Just something to mull over.....till we hear something.

Of course, I'd love to hear somthing just as badly as anyone else...NOW!!!

One other little bit....the fact that the mustang was originally designed to compete with the corvair....Just makes me chuckle.

Yeah I've read that too. GM had clay pony-car models as early as 1958.
Funny how car segments get re-aligned... Mustang was originally to compete with Corvair, and Thunderbird was originally to compete with Corvette.
