Lightbulb Steeda expanding operations to Mazda

I read last night where Dario is expanding the Steeda brand labels into the Mazda lineup next year. I kinda have mixed emotions about this myself. :blah:

Steeda has been in Ford's development camp since 1993's inception of the SVT Cobra. He developed the suspensions for the 93, 95, and '00 Cobra R models, he has raced them in endurance and SCCA sanctioned events with great success too.

Steeda is currently listed as one of Ford's "#1 Choice" cooperative development groups. They are granted access to cars still in design stages at Ford.

The article showed a pic of Dario and Steve, and in the background was a new 05 bodystyle on a hoist, being fitted with new ground effects and suspension goodies. The body was stripped, bare metal - no paint whatsoever. I couldn't tell if it was straight from the stamping/weld shop at Ford, or if it was stripped there locally.

Anyways, the interview went on to include that Steeda is working on some Mazda platforms for release soon. I guess since the Mustang and Mazda 6 are coming down the line together, it makes a little sense. I personally think that Steeda will be more into the Miata and Mazda's new (still unnamed) DC2 unit. Miatas are really hot performers at local SCCA meets, and the popularity of the car makes it a sure hit for a tuner like Steeda. As for the upcoming DC2 derivative... I really can't say I know much about it yet - but Steeda's involvement may get me to start looking that way...

Just thought you guys might get a kick out of a Mustang tuner spending some effort and $ on a Mazda... expect to hear an official announcement in coming weeks.

Not a big surprise with the popularity of Mazda in autox and SCCA and stuff, and the fact that Mazda is now part of Ford.
