But if you really want something to get charged up about, stand by for Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades for the SS Supercharged (and Saturn Ion Red Line) due in early 2006.

sweet, maybe this will help with the resale value, too. The dealers around here will reluctantly give you $12K for a <1 year old IRL. My hope is to either make the IRL a fun car to drive, or have the resale improve somewhat so I can trade it in for a Sky Redline in a year

Really??? 12k?? Thats insane. A used SRT4 goes for almost the same price as a brand new one.

246hp and 240 tq for how much $$?
I thought the SRT-4 had something like a 300hp Stage 3?
246hp still just doesn't seem like enough for a car of that weight to make it that great of a performer, especially if the total sticker price is approaching 30 grand.
But y'all say the base engine is underrated as is, so if that's the case, I'm sure these stage 1 and stage 2 are just as underrated.

$2k off is the most I have seen.........and I looked at quite a few! Of course these were low milage cars. I was actually shocked at how they retained their value.

FINALLY !!!!
Threxx - a typical Cobalt SS or RL is already packin close to 246 hp at the crank . They have to base power gains of the stock rated #'s . For stage 2 , add 20% to the average 215 hp at the wheels . That makes me happy
The low rpm torque is needed sooo bad , the transition at 4K rpms is like hitting a nitrous button .

A gain of 41 hp for the stage 2 kit doesn't seem like much, but I guess that all depends on the price of the system. The nice factor is that you can add ponies and still stay in the confines of the factory warranty, but on a different token, I'm sure the aftermarket already has devised many better performance enhancing goodies for these cars for lesser cost. For my supercharged Grand Prix that I use as a daily driver, there is already endless stuff that I can stick on there and alot of competing companies to gain a share of the market. But anyways, props to GM for adding another level of excitement to these cars.
