Re: SSR production halted.

Wow...they were selling great around here. Lately though I've noticed them staying put. There are 3 at a local dealership that have been on the lot for at least a month each.

Saw this one coming. Hopefully they wise up and stop making it for good.

Re: SSR production halted.

I see these things all the time around where I live, but its most likely due to the fact that the county I live in is the 4th richest in the nation.

The entire reason I think the SSR isn't selling is that you can go buy a Vette for the same money. The Vette has almost all of the pracality of the SSR(okay, less cargo room in the Vette), but is faster, handles much better, and gets much better gas mileage. I know that I would take the Vette over a SSR in a heartbeat.

I've seen 1 the entire time it was in production. They are very unpopular around here, I don't know one Chevy person that likes them.

[sarcasm]
Maybe GM can fill the void left from the exit of the SSR with a Camaro, or something people might actually buy

Dude, shocker. I'm sure no one saw this coming. GM has some serious problems. First they oust the Camaro and firebird and replace it with this idiotic crap. Maybe now they're finnally learning their products look like sh*t (with the exception of the vette). What were they thinking with this car. Has any one seen this thing. The bed has wood inlays. I mean seriously, if you ask me it looks like an angry toaster and production should have stopped before it began. This f'ugly piece isn't deserving of the same chevy emblem on my camaro and is just as equally undeserving of the same engine and, most recenly a better one. I'll own a camaro till I die but as for Chevy I hope they keep choking like thit till they learn their lesson and brings back our beloved Camaro. Untill then My car still looks prettier than any crap GM (including the Cadillac devision in my opinion) is putting out.

Re: SSR production halted.

Sad part is I have seen more Ferrari 360's, 575's, Bentley Arnages, GT's, Lotus Elises than SSRS. Hell, I have seen more DeLoreans than SSR's. The SSR is cute, but should of been produced in very very very limited numbers like the Ford GT is, otherwise... it is a $42,000 sports truck that doesnt haul, and isnt sporty. Much like the Silverado SS, speaking of, whatever happen to the Silverado SS?

1. They didn't replace the Camaro & Firebird with the SSR.
2. You are probally the only person here who actually think the SSR looks like crap.
3. If anything looks like an angry toaster, it's the new Colorado
4. It most certainlly is deserving of the Chevrolet emblem.

The only problem with the SSR is it's price, complexity, and the resulting weight from it's folding hard top. It's a head turner, it's a very cool truck, and I feel if GM had used the SSR concept as a basis as a design for their regular production pickup, or at the very least created a base model hardtop version for $5-8,000 less (putting it in the $32,000 range), they wouldn't have this 300 day supply.

It's nice to be enthusiastic about your Camaro, but it was discontinued for very solid and very good reasons. So stop being mad at everything else GM makes. It may not be your cup of tea, but GM is on the right track.

The only issue is they seem to be moving painfully slow in getting there.

Whereas I agree with everything else, I'd say roughly 80% of the non-enthusiasts I've talked to think it's ugly as sin. And, from being on several messageboards, not many enthusiasts like it too much, either.

As for me, I like it, but would never buy one.

I don't think its all that great, BUT I am not a fan of the whole retro fad.
I am hoping the SSR is a painful lesson to GM to steer clear of retro in the future.

The only problem with the SSR is it's price, complexity, and the resulting weight from it's folding hard top.
Read those factors out loud
Price is a killer on this thing, no one is going to pay that for a "Not a Truck/Not a Car/Not too Practical Vehicle". Also, I think the weight might have more to do with the fact it is built on a truck platform, than the top, and mechanism to raise and lower it.

I have not yet had any non-enthusiast tell me that the SSR is ugly.

Re: SSR production halted.

I think it's ugly as sin too, but give it two thumbs up on the cool and unique factor.

You guys think sales will pick up with the 05's with the Ls2/6spd or will it continue to flop?
