Spy pic of '06 Neon platform mate
Re: Spy pic of '06 Neon platform mate
The one thing I'm really not sure about is the placement of the rear spoiler. It's obviously forward on the rear deck, not at the very rear edge as is the nrom.
I think they are/were trying to continue the rear door cut line up into the front edge of the spoiler. Nice try, but I don't think it works well.

Looks wider and with not much overhang at either end, both likely to help in WRC competition. I don't think it looks bad (certainly isn't forgettable), and will probably seem less out-of-place in a couple years when Audi and VW also have similar gaping front ends.
Re: Spy pic of '06 Neon platform mate
Yuck - has an almost 4 *4 stance from that pic and it's styled like some kind of futuristic moon-buggy. Did someone throw up on the front end? That styling has just gone to the dogs - it's far worse than even the current neon.
Re: Spy pic of '06 Neon platform mate
Heres the article the picture came from. Its small but readable.
Here's another article with another picture.
Heres the new WRX. Is it any better?
Interesting notes are an evo 9 coming out in '06 with variable valve timing and 300+hp to be distinguished by warmed over body work. This 10 is supposed to come out in 2007 with a new engine replacing the 4g63.

Honestly, what are these two companies thinking? I'm just glad they're concepts (at least I hope they stay that way).

im not really for either the new wrx or the new mitsu
the mitsu aint too bad but that front end is a little over the top and just plain ugly (save the headlights, they aren't too bad)
suburu's direction is something else, that's for sure

But there's a chance that these plans may not currently be set in stone. It started with Mitsu's recent meltdown. Also, Hyundai finds itself in a position of strength, and doesn't feel it needs to associate itself with DCX or Mitsubishi. So, it is currently unknown what will happen with this new engine. Will it end up in all of these car lines....some of them...or none of them?
The engine itself...BTW...is said to be a nice one. The rumors were of a 300 hp SRT-4. Time will tell.

i think 75% of the front end designers in the entire automotive industry need to be fired.
"He who has the uglyiest front end shall be the coolest"
The latter seems to be what the automotive industry is trying to establish in 'automotive fashion'
GM has definetly been following this trend lately...
