Re: Spied: Totally Naked Silverado Z71!

I guess GM thinks it's good looking enough to use that truck in a commercial shoot?!

Those flares make my stomach queasy. They look like gaudy aftermarket glue-ons.

Looks like it's gonna be like the GMT800 trucks where they only truly look aggressive in dually form. That was something I was hoping they would change with this gen. Dammit, this seriously dampened my day. I've been so anxious to see the new 900 truck.

You guys do realize that in some ways this is a complete repeat of the discussions that went on when the GMT-800 first came out - people were all disappointed by the styling and it eventually grew on 'em. I don't think many people, being honest with themselves would honestly say they prefer the look of the 98 and under to the 99+. Not by now, anyway.

I actually like it. (But then it is a "red" truck. ) I'm actually not a big fan of crew cabs, so I'll be more interested in seeing both the standard cab and extended cab versions.

Exactly. As I said before, it isn't the best looking truck out there (like the 800 wasn't) but I'm sure it will stand just fine on its other merits--namely features, powertrain, specs and price.

It is rather disappointing though that GM couldn't do a blow-you-away styled traditional truck. The new Avalanche, on the other hand, is beautiful. It's probably my favorite 900.

Ugly as sin. Grill to big and 90'ish looking. I dont like the flares on the body it does not match the flow. Overall feeling is that this design looks cobbled together with 3 different styles for previous silverado mixed in.

The Tahoe front end on this truck would make a world of difference. I was hoping for more from Chevy on this. Also what is up with that monstrosity of a front bumper? That looks retarded.

When the GMT 800's came out they looked awesome. Then Chevy went to the angry eyebrow look and since then, IMHO the Silverado has been the ugly duckling of the full size truck market until the new Tundra was revieled. Now this new Silvy reclaims that title.

I pray the GMC version looks better.

I have a question about the rear fender flares at least...are they there because of 4 wheel steering or are they simply for looks?

front fender flares just don't look right..... I'm sure it will grow on me when I see one in person. It will really grow on me if I can get one with the 6.2L & A6

I like it. You can only do so much with a truck.

Looks good to me! I can picture it raised 6" with some 35" Meats under there. Nice Job!

Correct me if I'm wrong but GM hasn't offered "Quadrasteer" for a couple of years now, have they? I thought GMC was the last brand to do away with it because it was an expensive and seldom-ordered option.

Correct, GM stopped using this near 2002 or 2003 if memory serves correct. The part was developed by Delphi and GM could no longer justify the costs.

I'm not gonna read all this, because only one thing needs to be said...
UGLY. I am totally disappointed in the styling. I've liked every truck from Chevy up til now. Where is the style, charisma?

For those who don't like it.....name a truck do you like.

Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering what you think is a good looking truck.

I think people are looking for a bolder, more revolutionary design that stands out a little bit. Maybe this is the wrong forum to get an opinion on pickups, because we view vehicles like we view muscle/pony cars...they gotta stand out. GM truck buyers will probably feel very comfortable in, and appreciate, the subtle and familiar styling.

I hate to say it, but the Ram still sticks out to me as the best looking pickup of the bunch. Since 1994 they've done two consecutive designs that are far and away more expressive than anything Chevy has done with their trucks, save for maybe the slightly-daring slant browed front on the current Silverado.
