That a Vauxhall version of the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky is in the works is nothing new. What is: We have confirmation of a supercharged high-output engine for the 2007 Vauxhall Lightning as well as Solstice and Sky.
Jon Lauckner, General Motors’ global product planning boss, says the Vauxhall two-seater will come to market with a 2.0-liter supercharged four-cylinder. The engine is expected to produce in excess of 200 hp and peak torque of 200 lb-ft, according to insiders. Look for the boosted engine in Solstice and Sky late next year.

That is old rumor info, and wrong. Yes it will be in excess of 200 hp (in excess by a LOT), but don't count on it being a supercharger.
Don't know why they would just now publish something that far behind. Plus, remember that a turbocharger is a way of "supercharging" the intake air. In other words, supercharging is a more generic term, and "turbocharging" is sort of a subset of it, but today supercharger has come to connote "belt driven". Perhaps since this guy is of GM Europe, he used the word supercharger as a generic, meaning "Yes there will be a forced induction motor." Or, perhaps he is just trying to throw them off a bit...

). Anyway, I didn't think you were in the "insane" category, but like I said, you never know for sure.

Re: Speaking of supercharged engines, I thought......
Can we have a wish list for that motor?
How about an HHR based SSR type truck, w/o the complicated hardtop.
Or maybe a '53 Vette inspired Nomad with Cobalt underpinnings.
Or maybe just a Colorado SS.

Re: Speaking of supercharged engines, I thought......
I doubt this would happen but what if there was a 2.0 SC GT model Solstice and a 2.4 Turbo GXP Solstice?
Edit: What if the Vauxhall has the 2.0 SC as its base model and the 2.4 T is the top motor. Europe is very demanding on small cars and it may be an attempt to pull in a few more sales.
