Someone was listening: GM slashes MSRPs on new SUVs
Someone was listening: GM slashes MSRPs on new SUVs
Re: Someone was listening: GM slashes MSRPs on new SUVs
The price cuts are old news.
It will take a lot more than insubstantial price cuts to make up for the fact that GM's midsized SUVs are starting to look much older than they are.

Depends on the state...in MA sales tax is what you actually pay for the car, including any rebates taken off. Its about the ONLY form in which MA residents pay less tax than another state for anything!
red,
4 model years have passed since their introduction. In 4 years, I dare say the average price of a vehicle has moved up. I think its fair to allow a price increase. And by the way, I priced out your supposed $27k Pathfinder you've mentioned in the past. If the average Xterra is $25k now that they've been redesigned, and goes up to $30k, explain to me how a "well equipped" Pathfinder you saw on a lot is $27k. Not likely.
To stay back on topic, my dad shopped around and ended up buying another TrailBlazer. His '02 LS was great, and for him the '05 LT he just ordered combined the best powertrain/size/styling/features package he felt was right for him. And I think $36,500 loaded with everything from Bose speakers to heated leather to moonroofs to 6 disc changers was reasonable. The only 2 options he didn't get were the nav and the DVD player.
I think despite this being their 4th model year, the GM midsize SUVs are quite competitive in the marketplace. Explorer is more bland, Durango is a gas hog and too big (not to mention ugly), Nissans are flat ugly (Pathfinders have the ugliest rear end of anything I've seen in awhile), Toyotas remain on the expensive side...the GM trio meanwhile still seems to be a great compromise of a lot of things. The Envoy has a nicer interior than the TB but the ride is floatier, and my mom hates a floaty ride...hence the TB over the Envoy.

Anyway, the Trailblazer/Envoy has seemed like the caboose of the mid-sized SUV class for a while know. GM set the bar very low when they designed these vehicles.

In a world flooded with decent SUVs, GM's midsizers are embarrassing holdovers that look, feel and drive like vehicles that a far more than 4 years old. Your father only bought a "new" vehicle in the technical sense of the world. I sure hope he had the benefit of some sort of GM employee discount or other bribe.

In turn, a TrailBlazer LS 4wd starts at $29,400, and then $3,500 off in total incentives for a nicely equipped TrailBlazer for $25,850. Yes you can load a TrailBlazer up also, but lets be real here.
