Some "SS Concept" tidbits

We've all been waiting for the SS concept car that Chevy will display at the NAIAS in about three weeks.

This may give us a glimpse into what platform future RWD Chevy's may use.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what the production cars will based on but the concept.........DRUMROLL............. will have a C5 front suspension and a C4 rear suspension!

Her's a link:

Thanks Future!

I could handle a 5th gen Camaro riding on a shorter version of this chassis!

Talking drooooooool

I called it !!
A while back I posted that something else was going to be built at Bowling Green along with the C6 and the Caddy Roadster. Judging from the C5 components in the SS concept, I'd say it's destined for Ky.

In any case, the specs are right on target.

GM please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please build this car.

me again, don't mean to be a post *****, but those SS specs have got me pretty excited.

here's a comparo with the current camaro

SS 4th Gen SS
Powertrain Ê
Engine: Gen 3 small-block derivative Gen 3 small-block (LS1)
Engine displacement: 6.0 liters 5.7 L
Horsepower maximum (hp): 430 325
Torque maximum (lbs-ft): 430 340
Transmission: 4L65-E w/ seq. paddle shift 4L60E or M-6
Dimensions Ê
Height (in): 53 51.2
Length (in): 198.9 193.5
Width (in): 76 74.1
Wheelbase (in): 121 101.1
Track Ê
Front (in): 65.75 60.7
Rear (in): 65 60.6
Weight (lbs): 3660 3439

Coincidence?, I think not! The SS addresses alot of the Camaro problems.
The 121" wheelbase would help the interior packaging without increasing the overall length too much 193.5 to 198.9 (bye bye overhangs). The IRS would silence the critics. The 430 HP would put the Cobra back in its place.

The SS is a concept for a large sedan. I don't see those dimensions translating (or I hope not anyway), into a new Camaro.

If these component sets indicate the direction of RWD at Chevy.....I LIKE IT!!!!!

Now shorten it by 18" and build me a Camaro!
