some new GM interior stuff.
Is that the new Camaro's wheel I see there? It is above the picture of the concept's wheel and does look similar. I hate to sound pessimistic, but there is nowhere to hold it. The spokes are so thick. That was the only thing I was afraid of in the interior, and I was positive it would change.
That revised STS interior isn't good enough IMO - similar to the SRX interior - updated, better, but not good enough to call it a revolution in GM's historically trailing interior designs.
The new CTS on the other hand, is most definitely good enough, especially if pricing keeps it in the same class as the Lexus IS, BMW 3, Audi A4, etc (even if the size seems to be betraying it)
The rest of that stuff looks really interesting though I'm betting most of it is pretty conceptual right now - at least they've got their minds heading in the right direction!

Why does it need to be revolutionary? I personally think the current STS interior looks nice, but this is much better.
I don't see anything revolutionary about the new LS460 interior vs. the previous one (or vs. other cars on the road), for example.
I mean, the LS interior looks pretty sharp, but...
As long as the materials are nice and the fit/finish is good, the rest just comes down the the appearance or "styling" of the interior (and of course available features).
Are you talking about a materials/quality/fit&finish deficiency in this STS (which would be pretty hard to tell from that, or any, picture), or an opinion about the style?
Honestly, going from memory, I think that dash looks better than a BMW 5 or an Infiniti M45, for example. Perhaps even better than (or at least in the same league as) that of the current Lexus GS, which is undoubtedly well done but has a strange oblong shape to the center area where the nav screen is, iirc.
EDIT: Just wanted to bring the STS interior pic in here so I don't have to keep clicking on a link.

Boy, there sure are a lot of interior snobs these days.
I think it looks great.
It cracks me up how people can look at a little picture and say "ehh, this isn't good enough". Compared to what? Honestly, what makes this so much better than that new STS rendering?

Am I missing something?

I see a Cadillac interior that has a steering wheel that does not look like it was yanked whole from the airbag-as-pillow days of the mid-90s, and a dashboard that is covered in leather like a Bentley, rather than in plastic like a Corolla. And has more pleasing overall shapes. As well as a more integrated design aesthetic.
Sorry. 2008 Cadillac STS >> Lexus LS460.
It seems trivial, but I love that Buick key. For so long GM has been doling out the cheapest, nastiest keys in the automotive world, even on their top-end vehicles. But for something that is touched more than almost anything except the steering wheel, and something that is very visible even when you're not around your car, it's about time it got some attention to detail.
the only thing i dont like about the new STS interior is the steering wheel. beyond that its amazing.
btw: whats the middle top one in this pic:

the bottom middle is the concept camaros, but whats the top middle? have we seen it before?

I know it's an assumption, but I still have an excellent track record for being able to look at pics of an interior and get a pretty accurate idea of what it's going to be like in person... especially when I've already seen the previous gen interior in person and the new one appears to use many of the same materials and styling queues.
As for saying the STS interior >> LS460 interior... you're on some seriously good crack. I mean if you're talking in terms of style alone, well, that's your opinion - but have you ever sat in the 460 before and taken the time to just touch and interact with the smallest of details? Those cars are FLAWLESS in every regard - the way everything looks, feels, and sounds has been obsessed over. No, it's not exciting, but it's not really meant to be, either.
The current STS interior is just sub-par in a number of ways - maybe this new one will be dramatically improved and just doesn't LOOK all that much different. I guess we'll see.
What "cracks me up" about this site is I've even gone so far as to praise the CTS, Escalade, Enclave, and more and you guys STILL try and act like I'm some kinda full time Lexus nut hugger because I don't think every last one of GM's vehicles are 'there' yet. Some of you guys are pretty level headed, but many of you it's obvious that 90% of the reason that you like it as much as you do is because it has a GM badge on it. If it was the exact same product with a BMWor Infiniti badge, many people wouldn't be NEARLY as fond of it.

Hey, don't get me wrong the materials in the Lexus I'm sure are top notch (they better be for the $$). And the look is good, if not a bit sterile. I dunno, sometimes I just wonder if people keep reaching a little bit looking for reasons why domestics are behind the others in category 'X'.

If it's just a freakin' mirror replacement with no added functionality, what's the point? We gonna start having giant 100" flat panel TVs for our bathroom mirrors, now, instead?
There are some mirrors made that have a screen built in to the mirror. Perhaps the Mirror in question takes a different route, it appears as a screen when in reverse, but when in park neutral or forward gear, it serves as a normal funtioning mirror.
