Some more Charger info.....

'99 Charger Concept on LX chassis

I know a lot of you didn't like the other Charger drawing that I posted and I can't blame you. This drawing was based off the rumor that the new Charger will look more like the '99 concept.

One thing one person pointed out on allpar.com, is the fact that the there is a rumor that the Charger will have different noses for different models(ala Magnum RT and SE, 300 and 300C). Also, it has been quoted:

"an aggressive bottom-breather with a predominant bottom grille''---John Dehner

This would give some credit to this picture, and the fact that this nose looks a lot like the SRT4 and Viper SRT-10 nose. Could we be looking at the Charger SRT-8?

I think this car flows very well from nose to tail. This drawing reminds me a lot of the green kiacharger that was seen on chargerforums.com, just on a LX chassis instead of the LH. FWIW, it was said that the kiacharger is what the new Charger was suppose to look like until Chrysler changed to the LX chassis.

I know you'd rather hear it from more senior members, but I much prefer this drawing over the others that were posted earlier. I even like how the suicide doors are in your concept, just like they were in the '99. I don't know how to describe it. I like the lines, it's not a brick like the 300 or Magnum.

rumor that the new Charger will look more like the '99 concept
I hope that's a true rumor.

Re: Some more Charger info.....

My understanding is that it's a more updated version of the '99 concept with a nose simular to the current Stratus-former Intrepid. Sort of like a shorter, higher styled Intrepid, or a better styled Stratus (I haven't personally seen the car).

The only things that I can say for certain is that the interior is straight from the Magnum, and it will infact have a high belt line like the current Magnum & 300 does.

So when are they going to start kicking out the SUV's and crossovers on the LX? I see this as a perfect fit for a performance SUV, or even next-gen Pacifica.

Here we go Looks like Chrysler is getting too lazy to even do badge engineering. Thats one thing I can't stand about Chrysler more than any other auto maker. Its like whatever platform the last generation Plymouth Breeze, Sebring, and Stratus were on. They were all EXACTLY the freaking same. No differences at all other than the badge job. Now they don't even want to do the badge job. Pathetic really...

if this car is that similar to the 300, i hope it drops some weight and adds a 6-speed...otherwise it could post some sad performance numbers

Well, the interior isn't bad, but the high beltline is ridiculous. I saw half a dozen Dodge Magnum wagons at the Dream Cruise (walked by one with a V6 and some guy told his wife "hey honey, that's that new Chrysler 'hemi'" ). Every time I saw one I was disgusted by the skimpy windows (especially the rear on the wagon, but the front and rear door windows too). I guess since I'm no big Chrysler fan ( Here? Is that allowed? ) it's fine with me if they ruin the styling like they did on the LX sedans, but the public will still drool because of the marketing brilliance of the return of the "hemi". :blah:

Re: Some more Charger info.....

The Charger having the Magnum interior makes sense, since it is the sedan version of the Magnum.

I think the reason the cars are selling so well is Chryslers departure from the "bubble" look. They are the cars out there that remind you of something you might of driven back in the 60s. It reminds people of when they were kids. Combine that with the return of the Hemi. It seems these days that all the cars have the same style: small grill, low hood start, high deck lid, large green house. Look at just about any car and you can see this.
