One portion in that article concerns me..

"Democrats, too, are demanding strict limits on any auto rescue. President-elect Barack Obama wants new government oversight of the Big Three included in the package, possibly with creation of an "auto czar" or independent board modeled on the government's rescue of Chrysler in 1979, according to an aide. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private."

I do believe taxpayers should get some oversight for their investment, in specific a review of a business plan that is the short route to profit,,, but let's not set about further hedging domestics in on what they must build without regard for the market. PLEASE... no social engineering plays that rather only are satisfying constituancy groups that hate personal transportation in the first place? It would not be in the taxpayers best interest.

The government group which oversaw the years ago Chrysler loans fought hard against mini-vans that Chrysler wanted to offer... All those Chrysle/Plymouth mini-vans... what on earth was Chrysler thinking when they pushed for those?
