Some GM Production news

Three tidbits of info regarding GM vehicle production:

• The Arlington, Texas Plant has recently scheduled overtime. Full-size GM SUV’s are currently averaging a 15-30 supply (versus the usual 60-90 day supply) because of increased demand.

• In an unprecedented move, the Kansas Fairfax Plant that builds LaCrosse and Malibu has added a third shift, meaning they are running the plant almost around the clock (21.6 hours a day with short breaks for maintenance/restocking, up from 14.5 hours with two shifts). This reportedly gives them the ability to make around 6,300 vehicles a week. LaCrosse sales for Dec. 2009 were 4,581 versus 1,451 in Dec. 2008 (up an amazing 315% in December year-over-year sales).

• The Ingersoll Ontario plant is also running a third shift due to the
immense demand for the new Equinox and Terrain models. They are nearly working around the clock and recently added three Saturdays a month as well to keep up with the overwhelming demand.
