"GM finally gives green light to Pontiac Solstice"
I Like that they didn’t use the Firebird name.
"GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz said the rear-drive convertible would have to sell for less than $25,000"
I Like that its going to be affordable.
"The two-seat Solstice concept was equipped with a super-charged 2.2-liter, four-cylinder engine that produced 240 horsepower "
Hmmmmm, I wonder if they will use this motor?
Sounds good to me!

Now how long will it take them to get this one out, we are going on year 4 for the SSR I believe. My guess is 2007 for the Solstice.

Before anyone brings it up, it won't be made on a Delta chassis. They modified one for the concept, but concepts & production cars are 2 different things.
It will be RWD, so 305fan can ease the panic attack. Also, GM is on record saying that beyond Corvette, there will be only one set of RWD components worldwide, though there may be a few different configurations (insert possible meaning here).
The best place for inside info seems to be Bob Lutz himself. He made a speech at a university before Christmas where he announced that the Solstice was green lighted.
He also announced today that the Cadillac 16 won't be produced, but that the styling will be on a large RWD Cadillac that's "eight tenths" the size.
He also confirmed last week there is a new GTO in the works, and mentioned the design. Also, guess who's the source of the info of that LS6, hood scooped 2005 GTO?
He was also the one who announced shortly after his arrival to GM that GM would be bringing back RWD.
And, guess who was one of the 1st to slip up and mention work on a new Camaro?
He's very honest and straightforward about what GM is and isn't doing, and one of the earliest sources of information. You just have to follow every speech he gives.
