According to the guy it will be the Turbo off the 2.0L. He said that the turbo would be crap and to get a supercharger from GM instead.

I'd like to see that Turbo get put on the 2.4L also.

That is a good question. I would guess yes. Either way, the Kappa's will be all ecotech. I am not sure of the displacement of the Solstice turbo, but I do know the output is higher than the 9-3's current 210.

I had the chance to meet a model for Cadillac just last week. She was very knowledable. Also, about the turbo. There should be a dealer installed supercharger for launch last I heard. Although that was quite sometime ago.

240 turbo hp from 2.0L of displacement would be superb. There's really no need for 2.4L unless it's a light pressure turbo with ~220hp ballancing out the lack of top hp with a whole bunch of grunt lower in the rev range.
the point is, you still want these things to sip gas while in the unboosted rev range to help with fuel economy. I'd like to see at least 30 mpg on the HW from the turbo or there is little point for it to exist.

Yeah, I have no idea how they come up with MPG ratings, but none of my cars have hit them. On the hwy, the Evo has seen a best of right around 20. We've only put a couple thousand miles on the Ion, but so far its the same. Both run on premium too. Interestingly enough, the Evo is running on aftermarket fuel maps that actually lean it out. (currently about 40 whp higher than stock) It seems all forced induction cars come from the factory pig rich. GM has already come out with 3 different sets of maps for the Ion Redline since its introduction trying to clean things up. Although it's still around 10:1 AFR at throttle.
A big V8 loping along in 6th gear will definatly own any FI 4-banger in HWY MPG.

I averaged 20-22mpg 50/50 city mix and 28mpg hwy when I had my Camaro SS.
Maybe the Cobalt SS would do better with a DoD LS4
