It'll never happen. It is highly doubtful GM will make a no A/C car, seeing as how A/C is even standard on Cavaliers. I also believe there probably won't be a way to get the car down to 3,000 lbs, either. My GRAND AM weighs 3,050!
I think the days of factory strippers are about dead. Maybe no PW or PL, but no A/C? Probably asking too much...1LE cars (if we get them) will probably even have A/C.

As far as wieght goes, we can use the upcoming Z06 as a reference point,....rumor has it that GM is struggling to get the C6 Z06 in at around 3100 lbs....using lots of aluminum and other lightweight materials.
I can't imagine a 5th gen being a whole bunch lighter than a 4th gen. I'd love it, if it was though.
