So is it coming or not???

So now, according to this article the Caprice PPV apparently isn't going to be accompanied by a civilian version when it migrates to these shores.
I really wish GM (NA) would pick a strategy and clearly communicate what it plans to do and actually stick with it for longer than it takes to read the latest article. The Zeta light-switch has been flipped on and off so often it's hard to know which way is up. Their only consistency with the "affordable RWD for everyone" Zeta program has been their inconsistency in deciding what to do.

Re: So is it coming or not???
I suppose it can argued they've certainly accomplished the confusion part of it.
I'm not necessarily saying that they should reveal anything per se - it's just the lack of cohesion in what they do say - through this un-named source or that un-named source. I guess I'd just like them to pick a side and appear to stick with it for longer than the time it takes to make a statement about it - if it's no comment, then it should be no comment from everyone who gets asked.
I don't know, it just seems to me that they flip flop continuously on this RWD program - more so than with any other one (although that may be because I notice it more with Zeta, I don't know).

Re: So is it coming or not???
Again..the devil is in the details.
The article says "GENERAL Motors has confirmed that the Holden-developed Chevrolet Caprice PPV (Police Pursuit Vehicle) will not spawn a civilian version for private buyers in the United States."
That is true because we are getting a version of the SWB Commodore (Chevy G8), not the LWB Caprice. These are actually fairly different cars..almost as different as say a Regal and LaCorssse, which share the same basic platform, but have many differences.
I like this because it means the SWB car the public gets will perform better, and look much more aggressive than the boring Police Caprice.

SharpShooter SS- I think the problem is that you can't take every article as accurately portraying GM's current plans just because they claim to have an informed insider as a source. Some of the stories can be complete fabrications and many others may be based on the words of someone who thinks they are an insider and heard a rumor about what's being worked on without REALLY knowing what's going on.
Re: So is it coming or not???
I parked at Milender Center where many GM execs park while on my way to the auto show. A non police caprice was parked there, that thing is HUGE. Made my full sized Impala look small.
Anyways it could be like a crown vic. It may have a civilian version, but really the main sales are bulk commercial orders.

Caprice is a little bigger, but not quite huge.
The greenhouse is longer, and the car's wheelbase is huge.
Like the Charger/Impala difference in size, it's mostly an optical illusion.
