Did anyone get the March isue of Chevy High Performance?
Well there is an article on rare prototypes and concept cars, you could say a kids toy store in the metro Detroit area.
Anyway, to make things short they asked him in the end about a 5th gen Camaro. "He would not comment, but this smile and his attitude convinced us there will be another rear-wheel-drive Chevy in the future worthy of the hallowed Camaro nameplate"
Well I guess that is what we need to know, but the big question now is, WHEN!!!!

From what I've heard and seen I think it's a big stretch to say for certain that a Chevelle is what is coming.

They don't have any reason to not say Chevelle like they have a reason to NOT talk about the Camaro.

A stretch? There was an article back in December which stated that Chevy has plans for a Chevelle as soon as 2004 or 2005, and that may (emphasis on may) include an SS version.
Look in the archives, I posted it here.

The coupe market is small and shrinking every year. It would be very hard for Chevy to justify three RWD coupes (Camaro/Corvette/Monte Carlo), plus the FWD Cavalier coupe. I'm betting the 2007 lineup will look like this:
C6 Corvette
RWD Monte on same platform as next gen GTO
RWD Impala with heavy design cues from SS concept
Cavalier
Malibu
Daewoo garbage
If Chevy can currently sell between 60,000 and 70,000 FWD V-6 Monte Carlos a year, they should easily move close to 100,000 per year with RWD and V-8.

As far as magazine articles go....well, what happened to all those magazines touting the 2004 Camaro. They're a little silent on that one now. I shouldn't even go into all those supposed renderings of the "new" Corvette C6.

BTW Chevy24, The coupe market has bottomed out, and is actually begining to increase again. Monte Carlo has seen a bit of a sales increase, and I believe so has BMW's 3 series coupe and a few other cars.
