Silliest Headline of the Weekend...
"GM Eeeks Out $901 Million Dollar Quarterly Profit."
"Eeeks Out" and $901 Million in a QUARTER?
Huh?
I "eeek out" a few bills occasionally, BUT NEVER 901,000,000 OF THEM.
So... is this slant or stupidity?

I think "eeks out" is appropriate. Remember, it's all relative. GM's quarterly sales were just shy of $49 billion (if memory serves), which makes that a 1.8% net profit. If your investments were to return 1.8%, I don't think you'd be too happy.

I'd be ECSTATIC.
That's 7.2% a year. Try and find a bank that will give you that.

No, that's not 1.8% per quarter, it's just 1.8%. If you want to extrapolate the numbers to a full year, you multiply both the numerator and denominator by 4 (i.e. $3.6 B profit and $196 B revenue) and you still get a 1.8% return.
