Sick and Tired about the GT-R

I know this is the automotive news/ Future vehicle discussion section but is anyone else tired of seeing posts about the Nissan GT-R and how it's being regarded by many as the second coming of Christ or something. It's not just here at CZ28 but also on every magazine I look at. "Corvette Killer" and the like.

While keeping abreast of upcoming offerings from the competition to GM is a good idea and expected all I see and read is GT-R this and GT-R that. Frankly it's a hideous looking car inside and out. A complete hodge podge of design ideas none of which blend or flow together in an appealing fashion and it's performance credentials are as shaky as a canoe in 7 foot seas. Sorry just had to get that out.

The 11th Commandment:

Thou shalt not speak in disparaging tones about the GT-R.
Careful there, buddy. Don't want to see you get smited...

(Yes, I agree with you about the crazy hype. Though aesthetics aside, it is going to be an impressive performer, I'm sure...)

Let me see if I understand this.....you are so sick of GT-R threads that you started another one?

Dude, just do what I do. Ignore it.

If I'm Nissan I am ecstatic right now.
Here we are on a camaro board and a Nissan is getting more attention then the camaro. Can you imagine what it’s like on a Nissan board! The thing is attaining legendary status before it’s even been released. I can’t think of many other cars that do that.
I don’t know if they have a great PR and marketing department or if the car is just that good, but I say well played Nissan well played.

Oh yeah it’s getting old too.
More so because some of the stuff appears to be made up. Like the 149mph track time.

Trying to and I agree with the contradiction, but I was also curious if anyone out there has also heard enough or if it was just me. Maybe I'll start another thread entitled "Let's discuss any other car with the exception of the GT-R".

The Skyline and Supra are the two predominant wet-dream cars of young ricers all over the world. The attention it is getting is not surprising to me at all.

If Toyota ever decides to get off its butt and do a new turbo Supra, look out.

I thought the GT-R was yet another version of the Mustang?

What I really find funny is that people say its a Corvette killer, when it beat out much more expensive exotic cars, it was a Corvette killer. I know it has to do with price range, but really, it supposed beat a long list of far more expensive cars. Why call it a Corvette killer when you can call it a Porsche Carrera GT killer, Lambo killer, Zonda killer, etc etc etc.

Would actually like to see some real numbers too.

Corvette is Americas Flagship for a performance car. Porsche isn't, and none of those overseas cars. The GT-R is Japans FLAGSHIP and it's coming here. Reason why they put Corvette.

Funny. The 95 Mustang GT my son bought a few years back had a GT-R emblem on the trunk lid when he purchased it.

The reason I said that is that I was looking at mustangs last weekend ( ) and they had a GT-R on the lot. Don't know what made it different, but it had a hood scoop and a cool yellowish orange and black striped paint scheme. It had a "GT-R" sticker on the spoiler.

My son's was simply a Nissan GT-R emblem someone had placed there. I bought him a 5.0 emblem and swapped it. The car is long gone, but the "GT-R" emblem is mounted on his bedroom door... right where I placed it the day I removed it.
