Impressive.

But I was under the impression that Shelby was gonna be replacing SVT to make the top of the line but still high production Mustang? That thing looks like a supercar, that in all likelyhood you will never run into on the streets. So is the SVT Cobra still gonna fill that position as the high performance, mid-range price Mustang?

Am I missing something here?

Would this be a Ford car or a Shelby car? would it replace the Series 1?

The front looks like a sad Series 1

That caught me off gaurd.

I think it looks alright. I like sharp lines, but lately with the new mustang and their new F-150, and all Fords going overboard with it

I'd still rather have an original '66 Cobra with the 427 What are there like maybe a dozen real ones left in existance

I like it. I think it’s a good step forward design from the old Cobras. It doesn’t look retro to me but you can tell what it is.

I'm very surprised it isn't more retro than it is. A very modern rendition, which is good. Now if Ford actually builds it, will this be a Viper-like car in price? I can see a performance product lineup like

$150,000 GT
$80,000 Shelby Cobra
$40,000 Mustang Cobra

Not sure why Ford would need 2 basically exotic cars in its division but it's looking like it will happen.

I actually saw this in the lounge first. As I was clicking on the link I was expecting to be very disappointed, but I actually think it looks pretty cool. It looks like it could actually be a called a Cobra without being retro. And that engine is practically arousing.

That is one good looking motor. I wish the LS2 looked half as good.

Ford does'nt know if the GT will be around after 2007.Something to do with the crash mandates the Fed's have for 2008.The Shelby Cobra WILL come to production "IF" it gets the response the GT-40 got.The price range as of right now for this Shelby Cobra is in the $60-$70K range.

Yeah, but the GT will be killed off come 2007 from what i've read. At least that's what the plans call for within Ford. I see this as a possible replacement.

I expect it to be cheaper and more closer to the Viper in price.

Ps: The official pricing for the GT is a $139k.

Fords names are getting too confusing, when someone says GT I won't know if they are talking about the Mustang GT or GT(40) same goes for the Cobra now

I remember the guys here talking about a 3rd v10. It does have a new v10...different than the 427ci and 351ci v10's we've seen thus far. The one in this Cobra is a 390ci (6.4L) v10. Output is 605hp and 501lb-ft of Tq.
