September Deliveries - GM

http://media.gm.com/dld/content/Page...es/Deliveries%

I was bored.

Camaro - 5,670 YTD: 68,968

Observations: Regal is in a sales nose dive. 1,839 down 44% from last year. Verano more than doubled Regals sales of 4,042. LaCrosse topped Buick's sales at 4,580
Impala out sold Malibu by more than 4,000 units. Malibu sales are flat despite the new model roll out.
Cruze is hot right now 25,787 up 42% over last Sept.
Volt had its best month yet at 2,851 YTD: 16,348

How close are the Regal & Verano in terms of size?
There may be a lot of overlap there.

If I am not mistaken, the new '13 non-Eco Malibus have just started hitting dealerships recently so I would expect a bump in coming months.

Camaro outsold Mustang for the first time in a few months, but both models are down quite a bit.

The Regal is bigger, but overall they are pretty close. The Verano starts at $22,585 while the Regal starts at $27,055. It seems that the Verano is cannibalising Regal's sales. The Regal GS tops out at nearly $40K. While I think the GS looks pretty sweet, it doesn't offer enough bang for the buck IMO.

Yeah, I really think it was a mistake launching the Malibu the way GM did. Pretty much all the Eco-Malibus I've seen sitting on the lots are standard equipment car with no options. The new Altima hasn't been out long at all and I see a whole lot more of them on the road than I do new Malibus.

Who has the YTD lead between Mustang and Camaro? I really thought the Camaro sales would have been up this year with the addition of the convertible this year. But all the dealers in my district have had a hard time selling the convertible models.

The BRZ and FRS *could* be stealing potential camaro and mustang buyers?

I was at Orange County auto show last night. They had several Verano's but only one turbo 4 Regal. They are close in size. For the price I would take the Verano. I actually like the style better too. Not sure what it is about the Regal but from some angels it looks odd.

The best looking one of the group the Regal GS wasn't there.

That is only half the story for these two. The other half is incentives. Ford has regularly used high incentives ($3000 or so) to get it's numbers while GM hasn't put hardly a thing on the hood. Here is current:

2013 Camaro - Nothing
2012 Camaro - 0%

2013 Mustang - $1500 or reduced financing.
2012 Mustang - 0% or $3000

It has been like that all year too. It is pretty amazing that GM doesn't even appear to be trying to move 2012's over 2013's.

GM will move the Regal more upscale to distance it from the Verano. For the 2013 model E-assist is standard with the NA 2.4 and it will start at $29,990. The 2.4 on its own is no longer an option.
