And a new twist to the rumor mill.....
DCX partner, Hyundai...is doing so well, that it wants to limit it's future partnering with DCX...and may actually be positioning itself to buy Mitsubishi.

Though Chrysler's quality has improved 180 degrees the past 5 years, he damn near wrecked Chrysler by starving their programs and using Chrysler's hugh financial warchest to fund the Smart and and a good portion of those Mercedes restylings.
Oh boy... I can see it now...
The all-new 2007 Hyundibishi Ecliburon... it's a hybrid electric 3-cylinder AWD 5-wheeler with 12" rims, and it comes with a 117-month/78,912-mile warranty for those who live within 12.7 miles of a city with 1-million or more people?!?!
Or it could be a Mutsudai Montero-Fe...
Oh boy...

Looks like the German chain of command at DCX is imploding.
Just got this email alert:
"Wolfgang Bernhard's aggressive style and know-it-all approach has cost him the top job at Mercedes-Benz. The DaimlerChrysler supervisory board decided Thursday that Chrysler's COO won't take over as head of the Mercedes-Benz passenger car division on May 1 as planned. The move to oust Bernhard was driven by the man he was set to replace, Juergen Hubbert."

The plot thickens.
This from The Car Connection:
"GM, though, could be interested in Bernhard as a clear successor to product chief Bob Lutz. Lutz is known to like Bernhard. Current candidates to succeed Lutz, who came out of retirement and from running Exide Corp. in 2001, include advanced vehicle development chief Mark Hogan; GM Powertrain chief Tom Stevens; GM Performance Division director Mark Reuss. But Bernhard has bonafides and credibility with media, Wall Street and on the worldwide stage that may be hard to resist. The question is what job would make him happy until Lutz is ready to retire.'
