Saw a yellow Lotus Elise in Highland Park (Dallas) today
My mom and I were driving through Highland Park today and saw a yellow Lotus Elise coming towards us. I had no idea they were out yet. Does anyone know what dealership sells them? We don't have a Lotus dealership in Dallas so I wonder who has them. (I know Park Place Porsche doesn't have them and niether does Lamborghini Dallas).
Also, since this topic is almost pointless for non-Dallas people, here is a gallery of pics from last week when my mom and I test drove 2005 Corvettes and sat in a new Dodge Viper. Also, there are several pictures from today of new Mustangs at the Ford dealership, a 35th Anniversary/Collectors Edition Trans Am with TERRIBLE aftermarket wheels for sale at Sewell Pontiac (if any of you used to own it... wtf is wrong with you??), and assorted other things.

You all might be interested in the pics of my mom's SS next to the new Mustang... it makes the Mustang look really ugly... It only looks good next to other boxes.

I am sure there are some exotic car dealerships in dallas. I live in Plano and most of the time when I go downtown, near Mockingbird and stuff, I'll see a few bentlys, maseratis, ferraris, you name it.
Re: Saw a yellow Lotus Elise in Highland Park (Dallas) today
I've ragged on the mustang's looks before, but even still, I thought it was a pony car, and glad to have someone in the market...
Anyway, that mustang look HORRIBLE, style-wise, next to the SS. Hands down I'll take a 3-7 year old Camaro any day over one of these. I want to test drive a C6 but do you really think they'll let an 18 year old college student drive one? Probably not...

In that pic, I like the Mustang better. Bah, the side is a draw. But the front of those late-gen F-Bodies just look wrong with those lights/plastic grill thing.

I test drove the vette and I'm only 19. You just need a copy of your insurance and your drivers license. I'd recommend taking the automatic out for a drive for several reasons.
1) less likely you'll get in trouble driving a car more powerful than you are used to
2) the automatic I drove was just soooooo sweet, it shifts so perfectly
3) if you drive the automatic you can watch all the girls gawking at you as you drive by
But seriously, if I was rich, I'd have an automatic C6 as my everyday car, a 800 HP Camaro SS w/ manual tranny, and a Ferrari for special occasions

You guys only just getting the Elise? Been out here for years now. Great fun to drive. But not as good as the VX220 which is faster, and the VX220 turbo which is even quicker than that.
It's made by a GM company called Vauxhall. It shares the same floorpan and chassis as the Elise, but is far far better. The VX220 turbo was voted sports car of the year this year. For the equivelant of $30,000, you can have a brand new one. Supercar performance for the price. 0 - 60 is 4 seconds and there are a few tuning companies that can beef the engine up (4 cylinder 2.0 16v turbo, Vauxhall engine) to run around 300bhp, which in a car that weighs the same as a bag of sugar is impressive. Not bad for a main stream car manufacturer
0 - 60 has been cut to 3.0 seconds on the latest phase 3 software for the engine from specialist vauxhall tuning companies... here is a piccie of it.

Re: Saw a yellow Lotus Elise in Highland Park (Dallas) today
Why not import one, be a first, hehe. Vauxhall will build you an LHD car. They are sold in Europe and badged as Opel. Built in Coventry here in the UK.
I'm sure, due to their rarity, people will be snapping their necks.

Re: Saw a yellow Lotus Elise in Highland Park (Dallas) today
In 2002, I calculated the cost of buying a 2002 Mazda RX-7 from Japan and having it imported and converted to meet US specs and it ended up being in the $70,000 range I think. About $45,000 for the car, and $25,000 for it to be converted to US specs (I believe I included the cost of having the steering wheel moved to the left hand side
) So it wouldn't be worth it. Of course... I didn't have enough money to buy a used RX-7 with 90,000 miles at the time muchless a brand new one from Japan
.
If I was rich I'd have a TVR Tuscan imported, I want one of those in that reflex purple more than anything!
just like this one, except I would want a black interior

I saw a British Racing Green (or what ever Lotus calls it, but the same color anyway...) in Valley Ranch (Irving, TX) last weekend.
Fancy little thing, but doesn't do anything for me... :blah:
