Saw an SSR today.....
I saw a red SSR parked across the street from my office today..(in fact I'm looking at it through the window right now)....and it looks cool. Nice color, nice stance....I like it.
I take back all the bad things I've ever said about it.

It's sitting outside in the cold! I don't know why they don't stick it in the showroom.
...unless maybe they have more than one?
I'll check it out

"We suggest putting the Bel Air convertible on that “bridge.” Right now, they’re still developing a business case for it. But it’s one of those cars that clearly say ‘build me!”
Ritter agrees. “Yes, I put Bel Air in that area of open air, fun, with a design that’s relatively uncluttered and will wear for a long time. I call them ‘blue blazer’ designs,” he says. “By that I mean you can wear ’em anywhere and you can wear ’em for a long time. That’s what they do. Fun is an indispensable part of a brand’s livelihood, I think. (When) we went to brand positioning, I think we got far too serious, with security-oriented positioning for our brands. People don’t want to be scared, they want to have fun.”

If you haven't read that article, I reccomend everyone take a read.

My own pet theory is that Nomad & Belair will come out at the same time as limited production vehicles in the way the SSR is, only cheaper. The Nomad would be a "Station Wagon" version of the Belair. Both Belair & SSR are the same length (191"), both are based on a Trailblazer chassis, and I doubt anyone would have been able to make a business case for the SSR unless there was a bigger (and more profitable) purpose to it. Remember, even Corvette has to finance their own operations, something Oldsmobile got axed for being unable to do.
My info on it is over 8 months old, but a Belair-type car (if not the actual fathful car itself) is most definately in the pipeline.
Kurt Ritter, like Bob Lutz, used to frequently slip hints as to what was going on. Try this one from the same article:
"Ritter believes Chevrolet’s comeback will ride on the strength of reinventing some of the dash and verve that was a division trademark back when they sold snappy Bel Air hardtops and convertibles, Nomad sports wagons and big, reardrive Impalas.

Great article!
And here's a pic of one of the first "hotrodded" SSR's from SEMA:

Does precisely nothing for me.
I can think of many better ways to spend over $40,000 on a car...
... and all of them include "wickedly fast" in their description and have a Wreath and Crest or a set of crossed flags on them.

Is it just me or does it seem like Chevy might have like 15 vehicles out soon. There will be all the normal ones plus the SSR, HHR, maybe Caprice, maybe Bel Air, maybe Nomad, and I think there is a possiblity of a few more. Not that I am complaining, I think it is great, I just am surprised.
