Before everyone starts the "5th gen is huge" comments, note that it is in front of the 3rd gen. That makes it look bigger than it is.

Eh, compare a 1971 Mustang to a 1989. I don't think the 5th gen looks much bigger than the third. Obviously the weight says different, but then look at the chassis strength on both.

I was going to point out that the 5th gen is slightly forward (but not all the way in front of) the 3rd gen. It is still huge, but pics like that are misleading. Car and Driver did something similar when they tested the new SHO and showed it "next to" (but in front of) a 1st and 2nd gen SHO.

Funny you should think of me Branden. I had no part in making it huge.

I remember Indy '08, that was my first 3rd gen vs 5th gen size comparo. We were all taking our lap of Indy. There was an entry/exit road wide enough for two cars. I was in one of my 3rd gens about to enter the track, when a yellow pre-production 5th gen was pulling off. We went by each other a couple of feet apart. I was eye level with it's door handle. I had to look up to see the driver. It was almost like a truck just drove by me. Sitting in my 3rd gen, holding it's elegant, leather wrapped, three spoke steering wheel - I thought, this sucker is HUGE!

I see the fire has been stoked again. Does anyone have any pictures of a 2nd generation Camaro next to the 5G?

Or a 4th gen. My wife swears the 5th gen is tiny compared to my '95 Z/28, but I keep telling her its actually bigger.

After seeing these pictures I have concluded some things:

- The Third Gens are better looking cars.
- While they look big compared to Thirds, they are somewhat on par with 1sts, which they are mostly designed after.
- The 6ths need to be lighter, a little smaller, and lower. As if we didn't already know it that.
- People thought of Thirds and Charlie and not me, meaning I've forgotten how inactive I have become here.
- None of this matters right now because the cars are a hit, LOL.

On par with first gens? I think the above pic is a little misleading.

The 5th gen is WAY bigger than a first gen.

On thing I don't hear people talk about much is how much bigger the current Corvette is next to say a C3. The C6 looks almost a 3rd wider.

Somewhat on par is what I said. They are also somewhat on par with some of the 3rd Gen dimensions also, but they are too high and bulky to look closer to a 3rd rather than a 1st.
