Saw the new Impy SS today, and...

... I like what GM did with the Impala SS. I was driving on the interstate today, and saw a car's front end that I didn't recognize. It looked European, and then as it got closer, I saw the Chevy Bowtie on the front and though, hmm... what's this? The car looked like it should have a VW or Audi badge on it. I liked the front so I slowed down a little and he took the left lane around me. Then I saw the SS behind the front wheel well and the Impy emblem on the back, and the nice looking dual exhaust. The car was black.

I liked the car a lot. It's not a serious head turner in the sense that the C6 or Solstace are, but it has that sophisticated European look to it, and having that nice 8 cylinder under the hood makes the car a pretty cool combo.

Just my thoughts. If I was in the market for a new midzise car, it would be one of my first cars to check out.

Dan

It definitely looks better in person, as the magazine pictures don't do it justice.

I agree, I really like the new front end alot. I'd like to have seen a little more detail in the sides, and I wish they would have updated the 'four burner' taillamps from the last car.

I agree. I think that would have been enough to get me off the fence on it's styling.

I saw one coming back home from Fredericksburg over Labor Day weekend....

It was only a brief glimpse, but it looked very clean and sleek. IMO, a big improvement over the previous.

I even like the wheels

I like the exterior styling a lot better. The interior is a nice improvement, but still not quite there yet. For example, when is GM going to start integrating the center stack into the dash and not make it look like it's pieced together from the GM parts bin? They have a few models that they don't do this on, so why do they still do it on some redesigns that they're trying to 'hit out of the park'?

It looks far more Japanese to me than European, then again some of the new European cars are starting to look Japanese and some of the new Japanese cars are starting to look European.

It's so confusing.

I completly agree.

I seen one the other day as well, really took my eye. Not so much the design que's (which are sexier then they have been since the 96's) but just knowing what was under the hood.

The chrome SS badges really make that car, although i dont personally think it would look good in any color besides black

Well, I haven't seen the SS in person, but the base car is fugly and I can see two right out my window right now. Both fugly. I hope the SS does something to address this, but I still don't like it, even in person. Way too much of a Honda ripoff. My buddy has a 2004 Accord and agrees 100%.

Thought I'd throw in that I saw two Trailblazer SS's last night. They looked good, but I'm a fan of the TB styling. They sound mean as hell though.

They're out already? Nice. I would really love an AWD TB SS.

Not a fan of the Impala SS as far as styling, but screw styling when you can have a 303hp Ls4 under the hood. Should be capable of 14.2 1/4 miles (LT1 and 99-04 GT times). I wouldn't mind having one in my garage either.

Ah!

I've been waiting for these... haven't seen one yet... guess I'll need to do a drive-thru at the Chevy dealer at lunch tomorrow!

Full pricing wasn't even available on chevy.com for the TBSS last time I looked (a few days ago...) ...just base price.

It was late and they were leaving the bar the same time I was. I didn't realize what they were until I saw the front of the TB's, then they fired them up. They may have been pre-production, the Trailblazer plant is in Dayton.
