Saw my first Silverado SS on the road this morning.....

.....yawn.

Please understand I don't want this to be another GM bashing thread. However I was disappointed by how ordinary the truck looked.

Did they raise the ride height on the production models? It looked to be the same height as any other Chevy. Almost drove right by it. The wheels for some reason look much more muscular in print than on the street. There's some intangible missing there. It just didn't ooze with menace like a Lightning does.

I know GM stated that this isn't a competitor for the Lightning or the Ram. I thought until now that it at least looked the part. Just my opinion.

the AWD feature neccesitates the tall ride height.

I realize it's AWD. It just looked taller in person than it does in the photographs.

I just don't think the current Silverado SS is done the way it should have been. I'm not even interested in riding to the dealer to just see one let alone consider buying one. A shortbox with a 400+hp V8 and MANUAL TRANNY, I'd be saving my dough, that simple.

I saw one this morning also.

Thoroughly unimpressive.

Too big. Too tall. Too heavy. Too slow.

Holy buckets, I'm a Chevy guy and I don't like it. This does not bode well.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.. the sound of waiting for GM's bureaucracy to wake up and smell the coffee so they can get to building the SWB / STRIPPED REGULAR CAB.

I just saw this truck today at a local auto show and it looked BADASS!! It definatly looks a lot lower than the Z71 Silverados. 20" Rims look sweet, I love the colored grill and the bumper.

Only down side I see to the truck is:
a) 345HP V8, it's plenty of power and should get this truck 0-60 in about 6.5 sec., but not enough power compared to the compatition. engine should be 400HP

b)price, the sticker was $40,750, why not make a striped version for like $32,000 with no heated leather, XM radio, six disk changer, etc.. just 20" rims and exterior treatment and 400HP V8 should be part of the SS package, make the luxury stuff an add on

other than that this truck looks sweet, I love the SS badges, I'd like to see them on a Camaro
