Saw a beautiful black G8 on the lot. It was V6 with sound and sunroof package. MSRP in Canada is $31,995 for the base model. I love this car. I love its size and its styling. Perfect short overhangs at the front.
One question I have, though, what about the manual transmission on the V6 models? And what about GT?

Yes apparently only the GXP will offer the manual. Too bad, considering GM offers the manual with the lesser engines in other markets where the top end car isn't the only one offered.
As an aside I have to agree that the car is rather handsome in the flesh - fake scoops and all. That front overhang just looks so un-domestic that its got a coolness factor all its own - even with fake scoops the car looks good. I'm still not really sold on the clear tail lights though but I'd live with them.
On the other hand the (mild?) price scalping for the GT Canadian MSRP compared to the US MSRP is a little hard to swallow but at least it starts in the mid 30s and not in the 40s I guess.

I've just now seen my first few G8's on the street, and agree they look great. It's really strange how un-photogenic most GM cars are these days, yet when you see them in person they are very pleasing to the eye.
The starting price on the G6 GXP here is ridiculous. There are also no discounts. I can get Acura TSX, BMW 3-series, or Audi A4 for that price or close to it. Not to mention VW Passat with its 2.0T engine is significantly cheaper and performs quite well, capable of flat-15 1/4 mi.
The G8 should have been under 30K here... I would consider it in a few months, when we will be buying a new car. At 32K and no discounts, I'm really not inclined to even enter the dealership.
not to mention the G6 GXP is probably the ugliest car GM has produced...I saw another one yesterday, the spoiler is utterly atrocious. I'd rather have an aluminum ricer wing or gaudy body kit wing than the stupid looking monstrocity they put on that. The front elongated grille is ugly too.
One of my neighbors has a black G8. Gorgous car! See it parked on the street by my house evey evening (remember, I live in SF.. only multi-millionaires have driveways and yards here). The car stands out. Looks pretty sinister at night.
The car's growing on me bigtime. I think the only thing stopping me from buying one (same reason I didn't jump into a Charger R/T Road & Track) is it doesn't have a manual tranny.
