Re: Saw a Charger on the road and got 1 picture of it

Man, am I the only one that remembers that almost every Dodge Charger was an ugly beast except 68-70? Especially 71+. Blech! People go on and on about how this car is a "disgrace to the Charger", that car has a very short history of being a handsome car. I haven't seen the pics of the new one (filtered here) but the concept looked nice. Especially done up in the right paint...I saw some 'chops of Magnums with AAR style paintjobs and big wheels and they looked hotter than hot.

I thought the pic was bad, and I took it. LOL. Thanks for the compliments. I will shoot for better quality next time.

What,2 extra doors makes a car junk? Hardly! This car will rock, and don't go picking fights with the V6 Charger, that thing will eat your 318 alive. Jesus,we car people whine and whine about wanting a RWD V8 cars and chrysler gives us exactly that and all everyone does is complain. The old charger was just a sporty BIG car,It was like a Grand Prix or T-bird,if it stayed in production from it's RWD days,i guarantee it would be 4-doors by now, probably FWD,what's the big deal??? Look to the '94-96 Impala SS,look at how fondly that car is remembered, there were NO SS 4-door impalas in the '60s,yet the new car was and is embraced. If the car is good,2-doors,4-doors,it won't matter!
Styling is subjective,DRIVE THE CAR,then form a opinion. I can't wait,it'll be worth buying one just to **** off purists who can't get out of the '60s!

I saw that one coming, but it doesn't matter....they butchered the car, again, for the 2nd time, and we all know it. Sometimes a car looks like so much *** that I think popular opinion would back the old school models over this one.......I didn't say I can smoke a new charger jackass, I would SURE HOPE THAT A 40 YEAR NEWER CAR CAN BEAT MY ORIGINAL STOCK BASE MODEL ONE. If it didn't, that would be very sad. My car is one of a kind, and everyone loves it, and once this new model is out, no one is going to care about it at all. It's a 4 door magnum sedan, a cheap ripoff of the 300C. Btw, if you go and buy one, I won't notice your car on the road anyways......it'll look like all the others. Try gathering a crowd around one too........or talking to someone about it....

"Hey cool man, I got the wagon of this thing too....Oh, you didn't get the 300 one did ya, with all those options....? Why did you get this one? You got a v6 in it? New intrepid/stratus eh? When will you get rimz?"

Admit it, Chrysler wants to cash in on the name. If they called it a magnum sedan, it would work. Or if it were less ugly, with the same 4 doors, it might work also.....but it didn't. I'm eager to see how this thing will do........I have a feeling, like other cars, everyone will be running around with the base model engine, putting even more shame on our roadways....pathetic like a V6 stang or camaro or 300.....no real use or advantage....

Yes, my father's beatass '94 ranger handles better, brakes better, is faster, and gets more mpg than my '66.....but it's just not the better car. Yes, it's a matter of subjective taste, but line each up side by side and ask which one is cooler. My car has lasting value and is something truly different and has historical importance and significance. Looking back, the newer models will have nothing to brag about. The new charger would be a decent daily driver, but it doesn't seem to have much effort put into it, especially in styling category. They're just hopping on the bandwagon of reusing classic names to make a sale......even if the car drives fine, it's still not really a valiant effort in many people's eyes.

Re: Saw a Charger on the road and got 1 picture of it

I'm betting Chrysler will sell every single Charger they make.

*Chrysler has the public's undivided attention right now.
*They are selling the devil out of Durangos, despite that they look ungainly & awkward.
*Chargers are going to have 5.7 Hemi. Every thing DCX makes with a Hemi sells... even though some people don't order it.
*The Charger is likely to be the lowest price passenger car with a Hemi (probally around $27K)
*If the Magnum & 300 are examples, the Charger's likely the best quality domestic sedan at it's expected base price (projected around $20-21K).
*The 2006 Dodge Hemi Charger is almost certainly going to be the quickest regular production American made sedan ever made 2nd to only to Cadillac's CTS-v (current title holder) till the SRT-8 comes out.

Unlike the other new car that irked some 60s worshipers (GTO), this car isn't going to be ruined by insane markups, "distribution issues", high price tags, lack of visual impact, & it's sports models will hit the ground with the rest of the line (save possibly the Daytona and the SRT).

The worshipers will still be irked, but the car has enough going for it that it's lible to run over the opposition in sales volume and performance.

Yes, I am in Michigan for the crazy turn arounds. I live about 5 miles from the GM proving grounds, but that was not taken near home.

So are you saying that since YOUR car has the base model engine,it's a shame on our roadways? It's pathetic? It has no real use or advantage?? wow, you're real hard on your car,if you think it's a shame, you should sell it to someone who would appreciate it.

How is your car one of a kind? They made 37,300 of them. Hey,did you know that dodge described the '66 Charger as a "sports sedan"?? a sedan,HA! Does that make you want to vomit??
How is it a cheap rip-off of the 300C Can you rip yourself off??? Does that mean that YOUR car was a cheap rip-off of a Coronet? It's basically the same car, only with goofier styling that didn't sell well. The pretty Chargers came in '68.
How do you know how much effort went into it?? Have you driven one? Seen one? Touched one? Sat in one? Have you even driven it's twins, the magnum or 300???

A fast 4 door car... Im in!
I am one of the only guys(on here) who actually like this car... its sad because to me it is awesome. Power, practicallity and good looks (subjective I know).

Anyone know if it will come with a manual? How about a sunroof? Will it also have AWD like magnum RT and 300c?

You see I am the type of guy who would love to get the magnum but have a GF that doesnt agree with a wagon.... so the charger is the ideal compromise heh.

Re: Saw a Charger on the road and got 1 picture of it

No manual, just a 5 speed autostick for the Hemi and 4-speed for the V6. The autostick is neat,it's no replacement for a manual, but it's the next best thing, and with 5-speeds it should be smoooooth. I don't know about the sunroof or AWD,i would imagine if the other two get AWD,the charger would as well.

I like it. It's not a sports coupe, but so what. And about the names, did anyone ever notice what Pontiac did to the Le Mans? Maybe the big charger fans could get offended, but really, it's great to see a company at least attempting to make an interesting, powerful RWD V8 car.

Do we know for sure whether or not there is going to be a coupe and/or convertible versions of the Charger/300 sedans?

Re: Saw a Charger on the road and got 1 picture of it

Like guionM said, it will probably sell just fine, for the reasons listed.

However, I don't care if they call it a Dodge Charger or a Dodge Bungholepirate, the car is ugly. The GTO, an outstanding vehicle, was chastised for being "too bland". I'd rather have bland and sleek with an excellent interior and awesome performance, than ugly and bricklike with a good interior and also excellent performance (not that the Magnum/Charger is a GTO competitor). But hey, that's just me.

I couldn't agree more with Joe. While I may be in the minority within this forum...I think that car is hideous (as well as the 300).
