Re: saw a 2006 Eclipse yesterday
OK, I personally don't like the Eclipse after the '99 model year, but you know what? Mitsubishi could put whatever-the-hell drivetrain they want in these things, and they're still going to sell like hotcakes.
One simple reason: Girls love them! They are "sporty" looking, yet good on gas. The Eclipse is much "sportier" looking than virtually all of its competitors, save for maybe the outdated-and-soon-to-be-cancelled Toyota Celica. And with 263HP, it can get out of its own way well enough!
Like it or not, Mitsubishi can do whatever they want with the car itself, so long as it remains "sporty looking" and fuel efficient.

I am surprised they put so much horsepower in a chick car. Here in Texas 99% of the time it is a teenage girl driving it down the road. I sure do hope they have good crash ratings knowing how they drive lol c u n the body shop!

After seeing the new Eclipse in commercials I can definately say it does have a better look than the current model, not saying that much. I predict sales will be a little better than the current model but it won't set the sales charts on fire.
