Anything is better than the weird Ion....and if it "compares favorably" to the Civic and Corolla that's all the better (though a new Corolla is debuting next year).

Are you serious? The 5 door hatch is the reason the Malibu MAXX is going away. The car I saw a few days ago will make it really, really easy for people to upgrade from a MAXX to a 5 door Astra.
But, I snapped pictures of the Astra twin-top on a GM carrier just weeks ago.
How much do you want to bed that makes it here as well?

You actually have 2 different cars off of 2 different platforms there. The top 2 are from GM Brazil and are based off the old vectra, even though it is called Astra (confusing I know). And the bottom pic is of the GM Europe Astra twin top, a convertible based on the current Astra.

Just go to www.opel.com and click on the new Astra twin top...it will give you a good idea of what we're getting here.

According to Autoweek, only the hatchback will come over with several possible engine choices available for GM to select from.
