Sales Figures for GM and Ford?

I was just wondering which company sells more cars/trucks every year. Which company makes more money? I remember seeing somewhere that ford sold 2 or 3 times as many trucks as chevy is this true?

Before the Firestone debacale, Ford made more money than not just Chevrolet, but more than all of GM!

As for trucks, Ford sells way more then Chevrolet right now, but I don't have the figures. As for clearing the most money, again, I'd have to dig it up. (it's late & I've gotten lazy )

As far as truck sales go
Chevy + GMC = Ford (give or take a few 10K or so)

I'm surpised how close Toyota is getting to outselling the GMC truck.

I guess it depends on your definition of "truck". Your figures are for pickup trucks only, not including SUVs, minivans, etc.

If you consider all trucks, it works out this way, Jan - Oct 2003:

Ford : 1,751,170
Chev: 1,528,781
GMC: 460,686

So Chevrolet alone isn't far behind Ford, and easily beats it when adding in GMC.

However that's still not the whole truck story because Pontiac, Lincoln, Buick, Mercury, etc. also sell trucks. For the entire corporations it works out like this:

Ford: 1,906,426
GM: 2,270,051

Pretty much any way you slice it, General Motors is in the lead when it comes to trucks.

WHOA, big fella...........that's a pretty broad statement..........there were times when Ford DID Make more money than GM.....but your statement kinda sounds like they always did........not true....by a longshot.

And Ford isn't selling way more trucks than Chevy......the numbers are getting closer......so much so, that Ford just announced some incentives (moderate) on the F-150 because we're coming down to the line for year-end........also consider that the Colorado is just starting the 'ramp-up' of production......

That 1 SSR was one of the 25 Signature Series SSRs that was sold at Kruse Auction.......the SSR was not yet available to the public in that sales report........

That shows how much of a shadow the F-150 has put over other trucks in the business. The F-150 just had a record month, yet the Silverado is still right up there on the coattails.

How would you like to be that 1 guy that has that SSR? Ultimate bragging rights! (for the time being anyway)

Chevy sold 86 SSRs in October (and 644 in November, FWIW). Smackkk's figures must've been from September.

just to clear up any kind of misconception, it was more of me marveling at the statistic itself than anything else.

i'm not a truck fan at all, and the SSR doesn't evoke anything in me personally, but i wish it well anyway.
