Saab 9-7x

looks pretty good, I'd like to see some interior shots. Too bad the turbo I5 wasn't out yet, that would be the perfect engine for this SUV.

I thought Saab was getting the extended version, so they could have 7 passenger seating. That pic is of the regular length GMT360. Will Saab be selling the shorter version in Europe or something? Or am I mistaken about which one they are getting for the U.S.? [EDIT: Not that I'm complaining at all; I'd rather see the lighter, better handling swb version be the Saab than the mini-school bus lwb version.]

In any case, while it is obviously badge engineering, and not really a Saab, that doesn't lessen the fact that the GMT360s are really good, and this is a good looking version of it. Saab purists will be pissed (understandably), but it will probably be a good truck. I'd like to see the inside (I hope it is distinguished from the others better than the 9-2x is from the WRX).

Looks really good. They actually did a nice job reengineering the platform for saab. Look forward to seeing interior pics.

Why is GM still releasing brand new designs with 4-speed autos??

I'm guessing they'll be coming out with a 5-speed auto (or maybe even a 6-speed? bah... doubt it) for the ground-up full size truck/SUV redesign for the 2006 model year, and at that point will probably share the new tranny with the other GM vehicles sharing the DOHC inline motors and Gen IV V8s.

That platform has spawned the best looking SUV's out there in my opinion. This one looks great.

the interior is very nice, much better then the other 360's. The Aero version looks fantastic too, and has a bit more flare. I would like to have seen some sort of turbo i6 or 5.

That actually looks pretty good. A Saab with a v8, who would've thunk it? I used to bash Saab alot (Sad Attempt At Beauty was a line I used to associate with Saab ) but all the new Saabs look really classy.

it would be sick if this thing had an IRS, but it's not clear from the article. all it says is that its "a multi-link, electronically controlled rear air suspension." is this type of suspention unique to the saab or is this a feature of the GM360?

I bashed the 9-2, because I think it's really unnessesary. it's just a more expansive WRX with no extra benifit, but the 9-7 would be the only GM360 truck I'd even consider buying..

Great looking rig.

And this is coming from an anti-SUV guy.

Its the same rear multi link as the other 360's. AWD and your choice of 4.2 i6 or 5.3 v8. Interior shots are at GMInsidenews.com. They are very nice, much better then any other 360's. Center ignition too.
The 9-2x is a cool car for the sporty side of Saab. They could have done more to hide the Subbie, but still a cool little car.

I'll agree with everyone here that that's a great looking SUV. It's clear they went to great lengths to differentiate it from its corporate cousins. Which begs the question, why can't GM put this much effort into differentiating all of its vehicles that share a platform? For example, not that I give a rat's *** about minivans, but they'll sell in far higher numbers than the 9-7 and could have definitely used some more time on the drawing boards.
