Rendering of what someone THINKS the new Colly MIGHT look like

I found this today.
It's a rendering of what someone (not part of GM) THINKS the new American Colorado MIGHT look like.

Let me stress that this is not an official rendering from GM. Just something someone put together on their own based on the latest spy pics.

There is no reason to believe that the real truck, when released, will look anything like this rendering. Keep that in mind.

Here it is:

It's better than the global version.

Both the global and that render aren't panning out to be good looking trucks. What is GM design doing? The early S10's and Silverado's were quite handsome looking trucks, these new ones are bleh.

Certainly the rendering could be better.
For one, it looks too soft. That could probably be rectified by giving the wheel opening flares more definition. Also, change the rub strip to body colored with maybe some bright work in it.
The front end, while better than the global version, could use work. The high hood line and upper fender line combo doesn't work here. Lower the hood line and make it on the same plane as the upper fender line.
And I think the front end needs to be a little squarer; below the bumper needs to be tougher.

See these older renderings for what the wheel opening flares should look like.

Just that simple change makes the truck look so much tougher.

I also like the rocker trim. Really finishes the truck nicely.

That isn't a very good photoshop. They got the theme right but did a terrible job of putting it all together.

New spy shots are out, that rendering is already wrong.

Looks like there will indeed be a crew cab version with the 6 ft bed (not offered on the current truck, but offered by Tacoma).

Yes.
This is what I can make out:

The grille on the mule is more trapezoidal, rather than rectangular in the rendering.
The hood is open in one pic, and the top of the hood is close to the same plane as the top of the fender.
The bumper area is a bit different. The fog light areas are more recessed on the mule and there is lip below the fog light area that's not there on the rendering. And the bumper looks more angular, as in, flat in the front but angling rearward on the ends. Plus there's the large air dam on the mule.

The motor's engine cover says V-6 VVT, which I think portends the use of the 3.6 HF engine.

Agreed. They completely missed the front end in that rendering.

Doesn't the new LT1-based 4.3L also have VVT? Or is that only on the V8s?

Yes the new 4.3 has all the features of the V8s. However GM has already stated that the midsize trucks are not getting the 4.3.

I'm still hoping for the diesel.
