Remember the Gran Torino? Intriguing photochop.
I'm not particularly a fan of photochops. To me it shows more ability with a computer than it does any artistic ability. I'd typically value a mediocre drawing over a good photochop because to me it's art and creativity.
But every once in awhile, a photochop comes along that gets me thinking.
I really liked the sculpture of the early 70s Torino & Gran Torino. My school friend ended up with his dad's '73 351 fastback after we left high school, and I have plenty of memories our little contests with my '75 Malibu Classic 350 (I'd normally smoke him, especially if the route involved curves
).
Since then, I've completely forgotten about those cars.
This guy did a photochop (obviously started as a Mustang) of his view of a new Grand Torino that I found intriguing. I think since Thunderbird also had a similar look in the late 60s, it's a design that could go either way.
What do you guys think?

I think if Ford were to redo the Gran Torino it would be more appropriate to size and design it to go up against the Dodge Challenger. The Gran Torino was a big, wide and heavy car. While that chop has Gran Torino influences, its still to much of a pony car to be a Torino.

I can't believe people are still creating retro concepts ... isn't this retro fad over yet? It certainly must be on its last legs by now (just in time for the retro Camaro to come out, of course!).
As to the relative merits of a photochop vs. a drawing, I can appreciate both. In both cases you need a bit of an artist's eye and an innate understanding of light and perspective. A computer can only help so much; you still need the skill, and with photochopping, you need computer skills in addition to drawing skills.

I'm intrigued by the idea being that there's a chance (remote, but still there) of a Chevelle and the upcoming Challenger (I'm no longer commenting on a GTO
). I'd see this car as a full sized coupe, not a pony car.
Though the idea caught my eye, it's good to get opinions of others as a reality check.
