mabey its because of the way they are facing-- forward like a ram air setup....
....i dont know if you guys are familular(sp) with 5.9 Grands but they came from the factory with heat extactors on the hood or louvers- they face the other way(much like the old grand prix GTP's) they are VERY effective at reducing under hood temps, and cooling

...i took one apart, very interesting design, if water does get in it drips down to the inner fender area- but its not really an issue while driving

i want to see them on an F-body....photoshop anyone??

You're probably right. I was thinking more along the lines of static underhood temperatures, not the differential pressures and their effect on the cooling system.
