The real Silverado SS comeptition

Alright guys after looking at all of the Lightnings vs ext cab Silverado SS comparisons I think I would like to point out that that is not what the direct competition is. I think the direct competition is the Harley Davidson F150. Think of it they aren't the fastest but the trucks both come very well loaded with big rims. Doesn't this sound better than the SS vs Lightning theory??? Now if you want a L fighter then take a short box short bed Silverado with AWD and drop in a 496 big block or a high output 6.0 L. Let me know if you think this is more reasonable.

Sadly, the HD F-150 still puts a whoopin' on the "SS"....

But that might still be pitted against the HD-F150...

Don't you guys remember the hype about the 500+hp Lightning Coletti is trying to throw against the SRT-10? I'm betting it's gonna happen... Coletti laid down the gauntlet when he lambasted DCM at the Athletic Club last year about "trying to dethrone the Lightning".

LINKY ... to help you remember! 500HP/500TQ

The HD F150 is now supercharged as well so there goes your theory about the pointless Silverado SS.

As for 500 HP pickup trucks and the price tags they will carry....you can have 'em. Give me a 3200 pound, 400 HP 5th Gen Z28 that handles like it's on rails for roughly half the cost, thank you.

I dont think they'd pit the regular cab Silverado SS against anything else but the Lightning / SRT10 assuming it doesnt have that 90000 hp engine. The thing doesnt even have carpet lol. Plus you'll get a cool 6 speed for what was said to be under $30k. I cant imainge it only putting out 390 hp. Its basically a 6 liter LS6, which puts out 405 hp in 5.7 form.

I got some faith

GM does not have a lightning like truck. the current Silverado SS is about the same as the HD F-150 but with AWD, which I think will help it sell better.

500HP Lightning and SRT-10 will both cost in the $40's. I'd rather see Chevy made a 390HP reg cab SS with for under $30K.

Then make a new AWD GMC Syclone to kick some Lightning and SRT-10 ***

Yeah, screw all these high dollar cars and trucks. The SRT 10 ..........well that's great but what about something that the average Joe can buy. I would like GM to have a truck that may not be quite as fast but a hell of a lot cheaper.................and maybe also have one that is faster than the others.

Ok here's a little known secret, not many people know this:

There are people in the world who dont like the Camaro.

There I said it.

To me there is no cooler vehicle than a good 91 Syclone or a 92-93 Typhoon. I dont know why I love the truck so, but I'd rather look at one of those over a Viper, Corvette, or just about anything. There is nothing GM has ever offered that appeals to me more than that truck. The only thing that would change my mind would be a fast 2004 Silverado SS. And trust me, that thing would see track use with temp tags still on it.

I've got some bad news for you, the current Silverado SS is a $40k+ truck already. The SS has an MSRP of nearly $4k more than an (already) fully loaded HD F150.
There is no solid confirmation of the price on the 500HP Lightning. Considering the current L has an MSRP of less than $35k, I think it's a stretch to guess that the new L will be "in the $40's".
It is, however, pretty safe to assume that there will be about a snowball's chance in h*ll of GM bringing a 390hp regular cab Silverado SS to market for less than $40k.

Funny how people forget that GM only offered a real performance bargain with the 4th gen F-body.
IMO, a regular cab 400hp Silverado would stoke the fire a bit and force DCM and Ford to up the ante, although they already have plans to do just that.
Also IMO, the Syclones and Typhoons were neat trucks. But they were compact trucks with a Buick motor in them. It's kind of stacking the deck to compare a little S10-based Syclone against a full size L.
