I think this may prove to be an interesting little car, if little is 3200lbs... but I am not thrilled with the recent styling themes in the BMWs.

And while on that note, has anyone seen the X6 which BMW is calling the "World's First Sport Activity Coupe" even though it has 4 doors? It is supposed to be a Coupe crossed with a Sports Activity Vehicle but it really is nothing more than a oddly proportioned sedan with decreased rear headroom and or a stationwago with a trunk.

Im assuing the size is in the trunk and hood. The car appears to me to have space in front of the block that Mustang doesnt and Camaro probably wont. Is that the impression you got?

If this doesn't get you back on winkie status, nothing will

Looking at that pic again, that hood is remarkably short proportionally, but there is a lot of overhang. The trunk does look big though.

Yes like something Tony Soprano could use.

3373 pounds for the lightest weight model. Moonroof, sport, audio, premium, etc., packages will only increase that number. I'm betting that when the magazines get their loaded test models on the scales, they'll all be around 3450 pounds.

Or about what a low tech, crude, pushrod totin', solid axle swingin' 4th gen Z28 coupe weighs...

Not saying they are otherwise comparable, but again I'm struck by the frustrating fact that our cars were considered overweight, low tech pigs that were only good for bang for the buck.

Now, the "sophisticated" cars are even heavier. Look at a BMW 6 series, which is about the closest thing to a German Camaro/Trans Am I can think of... it is a pig.

Yes, the top end 135i will haul with its 300+ hp twin turbo six, but so did the (well over) 300 hp LS1 F-cars.

If you want light + muscle, you are pretty much limited to a Corvette, it seems... and then you only get two seats.

Z284ever,

Have you ever sat in an '04-'06 GTO? I ask this because on some G8 boards some people are criticizing the G8's interior saying it is not as good. Just wanted to get your opinion on that if you have.

Thanks

I'd really need to be in both of them back to back. I haven't been in a GTO in awhile. But from memory, they are roughly comparable. One thing tough. On the G8, if you grab the console near where the parking brake handle is, it almost seems like you could easily break that whole piece right off. It was the same on both G8's I sat in.

Thanks. That is somewhat disappointing to hear. I was hoping it would still have the Holden interior quality. Probably not a deal breaker for me, but just disappointing.

Yes, or the G37, which I've seen as high as 3700 pounds.

What about the new Jaguar XF, which everyone in the press is swooning over? The base model with the DOHC VVT 300hp V8 weighs nearly 4200 pounds.

Or the lightweight, all aluminium XK coupe, which also weighs around 3700? Well, it is light compared to 4200.

Oh well. Back to the Chicago autoshow. There was a Toyota press release about a 1/X hybrid concept. Did anyone see it?

I'm not z284ever but I think the GTO interior is better. The G8 seemed cheap to me.
