RAM SRT-10 officially World's Fastest Truck

PRNewswire

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 unleashed its Viper power today, taking its place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Fastest Production Pickup Truck." Only recently off the Saltillo, Mexico, assembly line and not modified in any way for additional power or enhanced aerodynamics, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 posted a two-lap, both-directions average speed of 154.587 mph over a "flying kilometer" on the 4.71-mile oval at the DaimlerChrysler Proving Grounds here in Chelsea. The record run by the Dodge Ram SRT-10 was certified by Guinness World Records and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The previous record was 147.54 mph, set last July by the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning, before the Dodge Ram SRT-10 went into production.

Looks like they didn't wait to get to the punch..way to go Dodge. Now if only GM would make a regular cab Silverado SS that was capable of hanging with these 2.

Ohhhh hayyelll...

We all know SOMEBODY is having a bad day now...

"Hello, yes, this is John Colleti, get me Mr. Ford immediately.

Hey Bill, we gotta go to the track with the '06 Lightning ASAP.

Yeah, Dodge thinks they got something now. They've dupped our Guiness run.

OK, send me the check, I'll take care of the rest."

I'm just waiting... you know it's coming.

what's really frightening is the speed these beasts run... i mean 147 was steep enough now Dodge just upped the ante to 155 OMG Batman got a new ride.

For some reason 155mph in a full size truck, even one lowered with big rubber, seems like a death wish.

But I get a little white knuckled taking the first 5 turns in a Trailblazer after getting out of the Z.

Maybe it's just me.

I'm open-minded enough to accept the idea of a truck that's really frickin' fast in a straight line, or even around a road course, but I think I might draw the line at those who choose to reinforce their social status by comparing the top speed of their pickup trucks

Just kidding, of course. That's quite the accomplishment, considering that a 150+ MPH pass would have been perfectly acceptable for an exotic not even 20 years ago.

There is something very, VERY wrong in a world where pickup trucks weighing 2 1/2 tons can run 155 mph.

It's so very wrong..... but cool as hell!

Its a sports car enthusiasts nightmare... A relatively huge truck, with enough hp and rubber to overcome its weight and size penalty on the road..

Its kinda like how Miata enthusiasts view F-bod's.. Huge heavy cars, but with big V8's and enough rubber to chop its way thru a roadcourse its own way.

That's all i am saying... they are just doing it now... we did it a long long time ago.

Let Ford have the Supercharged Pick up
Let Dodge have the HUGE engine pick up
Wait until Chevy comes up with a Turbo pick up (dreaming here )
