Purple people eater
hey GM may have gotten rid of the 4th gen, but at least we can buy a purple 50th anniversary corvette with magnetic shocks. That will show the 500hp viper and the 500hp Ford GT (GT40). Yep GM knows what their doing.
Is he talking about the 98 Vettes they made with the yellow seats and rims.

This is the only purple special edition C5 ever made and it is a 1998 http://www.indypacecars.com/photos/4vettes.jpg
I think everyone can agree that the 50th annv. Vette should have got a power upgrade, a 375HP LS1 at least, and it wouldn't step on Z06 toes.
Oh well, I wouldn't have had the cash to get one any ways. hopefully the C6 engine won't let us down

The Viper costs what? $75,000+?
The GT will be over $100,000
The Vette, you can get that in the mid-$40,000's...
And performance isn't that far behind, and the C6 will change that.
danno has it right. I'm a die hard Chevrolet fan but the 50th anniversary red (looks like purple to me) was a dissapointment. I appreciate the fact that its a thousand time cheaper than the gt and viper, but you can only ride that so far. Anyways at least we won Le Mans, who else can say that.
I guess the viper and the GT can both say that but it was still awsome. They should have put a 427 like the C5-R and the lingenfelter in the 50th.

GNs got a point.
I guess the magnetic shocks are just what the majority of the Corvette owners would want then (an adjustable <probably set to softer most of the time> suspension).
Oh and the Color is Anniversary Red. It looks like purple to me too

The shocks wouldn't make up all the problems of the weight on the front end. Ford had the same problem when it stuffed the 429ci in the mustang, but that was built for drag racing, not trans am racing. The ZO6 has race car handeling right off the showroom, and I don't think Chevy wants to ruin that. Also there is no need for it. Chevy can make a 1000hp NA big block, but again, I will be curious to see how/if the handeling is affected with the added weight of a bb.
