Pontiac's official GTO launch web site

This is Pontiac's official GTO launch website.

http://www.pontiac.com/pontiacjsp/gt...source=concept

It takes a while to load. It will ask if you want Macromedia Flash whatever installed. You'll have to answer "YES" if you want to see it.

The yellow car is shown mostly. That car is retouched. In one photo, you can clearly see the the gauge hump of the dashboard is on the right side. The red car is definately better and nicer.

And the "Heritage" section is pretty lame. The grammar is pretty bad and they left out key points AND actual years. Someone should go back and redo it.

But the pic of the engine is cool. It has really cool FRC (Fuel Rail Covers).

Question Hhhhhmmmm.....

....I wonder why nearly every section refers to it as the GTO Show Car??

I'm probably reading too much into this.....

Doug,
Probably because Pontiac will make some last minute changes to the car based on customer feedback form the shows. Just my guess.

estimated 340 hp and 360 ft/lbs of torque aint bad...but on estimated 0-60 time of under 6 seconds, come on does it weigh that much...werent LS1 fbodys around 5 flat depending on the model, etc.?

I think they are being under rated

LS1 Z28 did 0-60 in about 5.3sec. which is also under six seconds

I want to see some 1/4 mi. times.

I hope they change the cat-back to a WS6 style dual pipe.

That would make a good commercial or idea for a 5th Gen commercial.

people with short attention spans (most of the visitors to that site) probably don't want to see the same body style over 2 different sections, I guess. 70-72 was pretty similar to 68-69, at least to them

The rims seemed to look better on the video. It was different seeing an LS1 not half way in a dash for once.

A few things that have been noticed on the aussie forums about the GTO is that it doesn't have the indash SAAB cup holders, and no climate control (only air con) which the Monaro CV8 gets. So they look like the have cut out a few features to get costs/weight lower. The brakes are also different to the CV8 as they appear to be the HSV performance brakes. They are 330 x 32mm ventilated front discs, 315 x 18mm ventilated rear discs, grooved front and rear, with front and rear twin piston (PBR) callipers. They can be found on the HSV clubsport.
