It's nothing more than the standard anti-GM bias we've been seeing for years and years.

My favorite quote would be "engine sounds burdened"

Wow, what the heck. This article is pretty bad.
I still would choose a Sky over the Solstice anyday just from an appearance standpoint.

The test subject wasn't a ZOK.

In the autoX community the consensus is that the extra weight, mostly up front, the GXP carries detracts somewhat from the handling.

For the record we have a NA ZOK and for the $20K, the fun/$ ratio is very, very good. On the other hand, if the GXP coupe is in the price range of the 370Z, I don't see it winning that comparo.

I liked Sky more at first, but I took a good look at a Solstice just a few days ago and realized it has a classier shape, it has a shape/style that just endures and appears ageless. Sky - that style will wear off once edginess/sharp contours styling will pass.

My opinion, of course.

I think the Sky roadster looks better than the Solstice roadster, and the Solstice coupe looks better than both.

I'd love to see a Sky coupe, but I'm sure that isn't going to happen.

I've never driven any Kappa car, but I'd like to.

You really need to drive a turbo Kappa to appreciate them.

The fact that you can't store the roof in the car really sucks. What are you supposed to do if youre out and it starts raining? Imagine wanting to take your convertible on a weekend trip to the beach and having to leave the roof in the hotel room...

And $33,500!?! Oh my! The 370Z completely mops the floor with this car for the same price. .84G's on the skidpad? 66mph through the slalom? Sorry, but none of that is inspiring. Based on the numbers in this article, the only thing this car does well is accelerate.... and those numbers aren't even steller.

Unless you're dying to own a open air car... one that you have to plan your open air trip in before you take it out, I don't see much going for this car.

I concur 100% The Soltices' exterior styling and turbo ecotech make the coupe very desirable to me. It's a shame that much of everything else about the car (appears) to fall short of it's competition. I still wanna test drive one though so I can make up my own mind about it.

There's a soft top that comes with it. It folds up and fits in the back.

And, to me, the Solstice & 370Z are two completely kinds of car. I certainly wouldn't cross shop the two.

Don't let reviews of this car color your opinion. You need to drive the car to appreciate it.

Letting biased reviewers color opinions of potential buyers is a problem. When you let that happen, you fall into the same category of people that believe CR, which are the majority of stupid Americans.

Just read the April Motor Trend story on the Solstice. Summary: They slam the top, right up front at the begining of the article. Then they generally praise the car while pointing out the same shortcomings mentioned in the other article that gained the scorn of the other writer.

I do question the value of the Solstice GXP coupe. At $30K, it's pretty much in 370Z territory, and as both are 2 seat sports cars, I can see both being looked at by the same potential buyer. While Solstice is crude (MT) the 370Z seems a bit sophisticated.

I'm not a fan of the new 370Z. When I checked it out at the auto show, I found it's interior...gasp...cheap! I don't like the styling either. Whereas, the Solstice coupe is far better looking, and potential a great commuter car that serves as double duty sports car.

I love how the Solstice Coupe looks. Being a young single guy, this would be the car for me. However, at the price, there's no reason for me not to get a Camaro SS with more power, room, and WAY more practicality, that still looks fantastic. If it cost as much as a 2LT Camaro, then I'd probably sway towards the Solstice...

I'm pretty disapointed it doesn't come with the GMPP performance upgrade kit stock. I know when I put mine on it made an absolutely huge difference. This is how the auto show coupe was configured. I see a red coupe just like the one in the pictures here all the time. I know that one doesn't have the kit installed either.

If dealers were smart they would be on top of this and while the car doesn't come from GM with the kit installed the dealer would educate and inform it's buyers of the kit and for a fee ($$$$$$) install for them. Sweeten the pot and give the customer a car that is that much quicker and fun to drive. Seriously if you can get the average car buyer (ignorant person) to spend $500 for undercoating and paint protection (wax) then you can get double that for the GMPP upgrade.

Yes I realize I said if dealers were smart pretty funny I know.

The kit for my wife's car is still sitting in the box because I can't even find one dealer within 50 miles that has even heard of the kit let alone know how to install it without making a mistake.
