Note use of the word "when" and that the SS will not be the future Camaro (its too soon anyways).

well, I haven't posted in the past week as I;ve been busy at the Los Angeles show and also Detroit.

First...where the SS will be in terms of major autoshows: Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and New York. (that's tentative.....)

Second: At Detroit and Chicago, there will also be an SS salon....vintage V8s, videos...etc. You will note that the videos capture the heritage of the SS...and YES, Camaro is captured in the videos.

Third: The SS Concept is NOT a Camaro replacement. (4 doors???) Now...with that said, the design was to capture the essence of SSs of past ... in a new design. You've heard me say it before and I will say it again.....please.....don't judge something by its picture. I've listened to many journalists over the past couple of days remark that the Cheyenne looks terrible in the pictures, yet looks great in person. ....so...come to one of the shows and then make your opinion.

Getting back to the Camaro replacement thing.....I think there are styling cues that remind you of Camaro.....not the entire car...but the taillamps are very reminiscent of the early 2nd gen. The Grille has the look of the late 4th gen...and perhaps the early 2nd gen RS. In my opinion, the car is great looking...but it is not a Camaro replacement and I don;'t think it adequately captures the "Camaro look." So....don't have a cow....you can be assured that when we do another Camaro, it will not be the SS concept car.

Do I think we should offer this car with some changes? You betcha! Will it happen? Don't know.
Thanks for letting us know. Could you answer if this car was to be produced it would have an all new name??

Hmm, "when" and not "if". Perhaps there is hope for the Camaro. BTW, Red Planet, if that was actually a slip up, you can edit that out of your post and I will delete this post like it NEVER happened.

Yeah LOL, and you can post the year about when you'll be doing this real quick. It'll all be edited out by tomorrow.

Why I think there's a little bit of Camaro in the SS

Note the shifter in the press pictures of the SS. At least, I would assume that's the shifter there on the center console. Compare to a 1968 Camaro's horseshoe style shifter.

Yeah, it doesn't stick up like a horseshoe shifter and it looks like it has an extremely long throw, but it's just something that caught my attention.

Don't stick all your eggs in the "when not if" basket guys. Remember Scott is not the guy who makes decisions on Camaro. His use of "when" means one of two things: 1. what everybody thinks he meant, which is that they are doing another Camaro and its just a matter of time, and 2. Its his wishful thinking (as well as ours) and perhaps a good feeling about the future of the car, but nothing concrete.

So lets not jump to conclusions and start running around saying Red Planet just confirmed there will be another Camaro.

Heck I'm just happy he said the SS is not a "Camaro replacement".

I like the SS myself. I know I originally said it was more Chevelle than Camaro. Now it looks a little more Camaroish... and I see a little Vette in it as well.

Who cares? Its one f-ing cool concept if you ask me. A sporty four-door sports sedan with classic musclecar influences...

If this is the future of GM... count me in!

My Classic Industries Camaro catalog called it a "horseshoe shifter".

I noticed the shifter as well, although it wasn't only used in Camaros. The Chevelle had it too. Don't remember exactly which years though. The SS is a Chevelle IMO.I hope they build it , its awsome. I would like to see the 5th gen with more 1st gen styling than 2nd gen. IMO the late 4th gen did a good job of bringing back the 2nd gen look, in the front. I would love to see some roud tail lights on a next gen w/lots of 1st gen looks. Just my opinion.

Oh almost forgot, I always knew it was a when and not an if Camaro would return. Even if they never built another Camaro (which is depressing) They will never die in my book.
